In a casting coup of sorts, two heroines,Madhuri Dixit Nene and Juhi Chawla, who were pitted against one another for the top rank through the late 80s and 90s; but who haven't been seen together sharing screen space, are coming together for the first time in Anubhav Sinha's 'Gulab Gang'.

The film needed two strong performers. Anubhav, who had finalised Madhuri earlier, was looking for his second leading lady for a while now. It was just a few days ago that Juhi agreed to be a part of the project.

Says Anubhav, "Gulab Gang is about two iconic female characters. I couldn't have pulled off a better cast than the two most iconic female stars, Madhuri and Juhi, together for the first time on Indian screen. My film is an action and drama piece with two women at loggerheads. I needed actors who would justifiably match up to each other, both in terms of their performance and stature. I think, this is the best the film could get, because the subject material is so strong."

Juhi, who is riding high because of the numerous compliments she has received for her fantastic performance in Son of Sardaar is said to be kicked about the fact that she is getting into another very exciting film with Madhuri.

What is Gulabi Gang
Gulabi Gang is a women's group from Uttar Pradesh's Bundelkhand region that takes up the cause of women facing violence, domestic and social problems. The leader of the gang is Bigg Boss contestant Sampat Pal. Pal was eliminated a couple of weeks back from the reality show. Though there have been talks about the film being based on Pal's life, the director has denied it.

As reported by us earlier, the shooting of Abhishek Chaubey's 'Dedh Ishqiya' is slated to begin in Lucknow from early next year. Director and writer Abhishek Chaubey, cinematographer Tassaduq Hussain, chief assistant diretor Rahil and a few others have been finalizing locations to shoot the 'Ishqiya' sequel in the city for the past couple of days. 

The group has checked out places like the saraffa bazaar and Akbari Gate area in Chowk, the sheds at the Charbagh railway station and a few jewellery shops at Gole Market in Mahanagar. Chaubey has also shown keen interest in the old havelis in and around Lucknow to shoot his film. A few of the havelis liked by Chaubey include the Shehanshah haveli and the Sultanat Manzil in the Nakkhas area of old Lucknow. He also plans to shoot a few scenes at the Nadan Mahal Road. 

"Although Abhishek has seen quite a few places in Lucknow, he has yet to finalize them. That should be done in a day or two," a source informed us. 

Dedh Ishqiya is the sequel to Abhishek's debut hit Ishqiya and stars Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi and Madhuri Dixit. 

Tassaduq Hussain is also an award winning cinematographer and has worked with Chaubey and Bhardwaj in films like Omkara and by virtue of that is familiar with Lucknow locations.
