Chp 2: Maanvi Chaudary
Manvi sat at the centre of the stage, her eyes on the man that had bought so much sorrow to her sister... And as much love as he had for her at that moment, it was equalled by her only in resentment.
She stared at him, hoping that her fury was recognised. While viren had spent many nights drying his mothers tears, it was jeevika who was left to clean up her husbands tears after they married. Everybody knew how much manvi loved her sister. Jeevikas sadness was manvis sadness. And in his absence Virat managed to give so much of it, that manvi was sure she would never be able to forgive him, even if Viren did.
Manvi stared deep into the crowd, she was always nervous before a performance and this time was no different. The irony was that before her sister had married his brother, manvi had idolised him... Like Many of his other fans, she couldnt resist his dashing princely good looks, he had a jawline so sharp it looked like it could cut glass and eyes that were so soft and kind that despite his angry music they spoke to her on a personal level. They told her a melancholy story of sadness, heartbreak and a man who had a troubled past which he was trying to hide from.
That was of course, before she knew him. When jeevika had married viren, manvi saw a broken family that had welcomed her sister in. She learnt the story of a man who used his brother to get ahead in his career, and then decided he didn't want to know him any longer. she despised the fact that virat so easily cut off the relationship between him and his mother, while in her childhood, manvi spent countless nights crying and wishing she had her parents there to share her sorrows and little joys. She was annoyed at the fact that he had so easily got his dream and in the process, forgotten everybody who had helped him to do so.
Manvi was unbelievably excited to meet him at her sisters wedding, viren had been so certain that he will turn up, that everybody began to notice the joy in his eyes and voice as he spoke in the days leading to the big day. He would constantly reminisce about the good days when him and his brother would get up to no good terrorising the neighbours and the kids in their locality and was eager to introduce virat to his wife and her family.
Manvi had thought she loved him then, and in her childish fantasy thought up a world where her life was a stage in which she could forever dance to his tunes, a stage that belonged only to him and her... He would be the music and her... The movement.
The love she had thought she had, was short lived. Virat didnt call nor send any notice but just decided he would not go. Viren tried hard to smile and make excuses but everybody could sense the disappointment in his voice as he spoke. Manvis delusion of love was shattered, the 'happiest day' of jeevikas life was one of the saddest things manvi had ever seen. Vanshika, jeevikas mother in law, welcomed the guests with sorrowful puffy eyes that had spent the nights crying for her sons, and although everything was beautiful as it met the eyes... It was like a mirage, just a delusion... It was a colorless rainbow. people went through the motions but they were not filled with the colors of bliss and joy that manvi had hoped would paint her sisters wedding.
Long before she had met virat, she HATED him with all the strength shed ever known, and as he stared at her from across the stage and all her resentment came flooding back...she realised it was the first time she ever felt that way.
