Great discussion Shwetha!! Going to try and give my 2 cents on the questions you have raised

its been long time i posted any topic here.
well the current track of Parents - kids struggle for board exams and the tension for the next step i.e career course which differs btw parents n kids its an interesting and challenging track taken by CV's.
Here are few things to raise and discuss
1. Rocky want's to take arts and want to make career through foot ball. He can work hard but he don't want to as not much % is needed to enter into Arts.
Sweety ji want's him to opt Science and make him engineer. For this he needs to study and get good % and Sweety ji is opting her own techniques of hitlerism a bit.
Lucky ji is like 50 - 50, he understands both Sweety ji's intentions and Rocky's passion too. But can't convince both.
To be very honest, unless the child shows that he/she is capable of
taking such a decision - and living upto it, parents themselves will not
be comfortable in leaving such a huge decision upto the child. If Rocky
had put his point of view across in a better way, I feel, if not Sweety
atleast, he could have convinced Lucky - who would have helped him to
convince Sweety that this is what he wants. But his reasons for taking
up Arts - that it doesn't require much effort - dint do much to convince
Lucky in his favour - rather it convinced Lucky further, that all Rocky
was lacking was incentive to do the right thing, which he conveniently
provided. I am not saying what Lucky did was right, but if Rocky wanted
Arts more than anything, he wouldn't have been swayed by the bike offer.
2. Raavi is weak at studies and can't struggle much. Even hand writing gets worse as the time proceeds in exam. (At least that's what i understood, i may be wrong though )
Pinky ji n Jeet ji want Raavi to opt Commerce for which 82% is must and they are finding ways to get her good score.
Pinky and Jeet on the other hand are doing everything in their power to make sure that Raavi gets the chance she deserves - I kinda feel that they are unable to accept that Raavi is weak at studies, they believe that when she is putting the required effort, she should get the results of this effort as well. In a way, they are trying to make sure that Raavi should have faith that hard work will pay off. Lets see, if it pays off or not!
Both the parents are opting different ways to get their kids settle in good career course.
My questions are:
1. Is Sweety ji correct in her way to cut down the cable, spoil the I-pod and put all the conditions in front of Rocky?
I feel instead of destroying the ipod, Sweety could have just confiscated it! In my time, if my parents wanted me to study without any distractions, they would just take the source of distraction away - not destroy it. But considering the sort of challenge Sweety faces, with Rocky, she did what she thought was the best way to get things under control. As I have mentioned earlier, Rocky has never given Sweety the comfort of actually believing in him, so why should she?
2. What do u think Rocky should do instead of playing the dirty tricks of PTSD?
Anything else would be better than this. He could have studied, saved up money or sold his laptop and got an ipod instead. But faking PTSD and blindness, is just way way too much.
3. What would u do if u were in Sweety ji's place?
Confiscated the ipod - till the exams were over. Maybe wouldnt force the condition of studying with her as well, instead would quiz him to make sure, he has studied.
4. What would u do if u were in Rocky's place?
Not spoken to my mom?? definitely wouldn't have pretended to have ptsd!!
Is Pinky's ji way of tackling the situation and making Raavi study correct? If yes how and if no then how would it go or handle?
Pinky just wants to make sure that Raavi has absolutely nothing holding her back, when it comes to her studies. But, knowing that Raavi is weak in studies and still dumping their expectations on her, is not right. Let Raavi put in all her effort for the exams, let the results come, and then they can decide what to do.
Raavi's act towarud the News Letter issue is it correct? What must have Raavi done or must do, as she is scared to work with a boy in NL matter?
Raavi has unfortunately been forced into a situation, which she is not comfortable with. So, her behaviour is justified. considering the things that have just happened, it'll be a long time, before she will be comfortable in a situation like this.
Is Shouting at younger ones for sake of elder one's correct?
Nope it isn't. But it inevitably happens. Its not intentional, but in most circumstances invariably that is what happens! Interestingly, the converse happens as well, when the younger one has an exam, the elder one gets yelled at. Its just that exams have become such a nerve wracking experience, that such situations inevitably come up.
do share ur views. thank u
