Lalit Mohan, the man, the director, the magic!

Chicky and I are on a warpath. In spite of being neck deep in work, instead of doing that, we decided to say HALLA BOL to the bloody CVs. We've posted a diluted version of this post on the IPK official page. It's time to make some noise since the CVs seem to be deaf. So, if you guys do have time, let's please make a dhamaaka.

There is no nice and subtle way to say this - the new director of IPK needs to be changed or helped, at the very least. We can be ostriches with our heads stuck in the sand and blame the low TRPs and fans' frustration on the misunderstanding or IPL. Or, we can man up and face the fact that where Lalit Mohan used to create magic on-screen with the lamest situations, the new director is killing the most magical situations with his shoddy direction. There are too many examples, the latest being the difference between the Rangoli fall and the recent fall from the ladder. The actors and the CVs are the same - but the direction has gone to hell.

Some things that IPK championed in, but completely lacks now:

- closing loops (examples: Khushi's bangles sold for Arnav's plants, Khushi's fear of the dark, Khushi's momentary realization that Arnav may know about Shyam, NK's whereabouts, it's going to be a year - Khushi's parents' barsi or Arnav/Khushi's birthdays?)

- intensity and character assassination (the real Arnav-Khushi are the ones in the guesthouse sequence, the character dheela sequence, the resignation sequence - not Arnav falling in cow-dung or Khushi bathing him in public).

- attention to detail (the feelings of the characters are no longer shown, even their expressions aren't shown leave alone their thoughts: in the recent ladder sequence, the kids and the ladder and the basket got more screen time than Arnav and Khushi).

- moments (or lack thereof. Lalit Mohan made Arnav and Khushi burn up the screen from two ends of the room during the jaadu sequence. Now, in spite of being on the same damn bed, there is no awareness).

- inconsistency (Arnav's transformation back into ASR mode during Akash-Payal wedding made us expect real torture and angst for Khushi. This whole Khushi acting juvenile and Arnav joining her in comedy leaves a lot to be desired. The new director has steered an intense hate marriage right back into his favorite genre - mindless comedy).

Here is a marriage between two people who were on the verge of confessing their love to each other after months of toil only to think that the girl is cheating and scheming and the guy is heartless and cruel. Intense pain, intense confrontations, intense hatred - that is what this marriage should be about. Not Arnav and Khushi re-living their childhood as overgrown juveniles.

Everything else about IPK remains the same except the direction, which is now pathetic. IPK is Gul and Nissar's baby. If Nissar or Lalit cannot direct it themselves, can they please at least mentor and coach this new person who obviously needs it?

Edit:

One point that was raised multiple times on this thread was about the rain hug and the Holi week. Chicky and I went back and checked (and also confirmed in the credits for the specific episodes) and, with the deepest regret, have to break it to everyone that the one thing we thought the new director had to his credit (the Holi week), isn't his either. The rain hug (this most of us knew already) and the Holi week had Lalit Mohan. From the very next episode, it's only the new director (when the Swami comedy started). So there. Sigh.

YALGARRR ... I say!

I sincerely hope someone is listening to us. This mess needs to be sorted out pronto, before J and me catch the next flight to Mumbai and 'Halla Bol' there only ... some asses need major kicking it seems!

How dare they tamper with our most adored, intense characters and our most sacred 'rabba vey'!

A 'rabba vey' after falling in gobar!!! GOOD GOD!!!

Where are the A and K who would sense each others presence (sometimes even across the telephone lines!) ... who would be aware of each other across a crowded room ... who would bristle at each look or touch ... who 'spoke' to each other and us thru their eyes and expressions!

Who are these people here??

What have they done to OUR Arnav Sing Raizada and Khushi Kumaari Gupta??

Can someone tell us where their story is being aired, as we need to switch to that show it seems!!

You are responsible for making me do this bey! I don't have much hope, I will admit. Somehow the whole thing seems to be that they are not even interested in making this serial work. On being asked if he has to anything to comment on why IPK has been doing badly recently, the new director just had to say "keep watching" .. erm the depth is about as much as he shows in the show bey!

They've turned Khushi juvenile, but to add insult to injury have made Arnav one too! Mr my way or highway has come muh uthaake to stay in his sasural.. that too no office.. din bhar mechanic ka kaam.. when he is not falling in gobar or playing "daamaad"

I completely agree on this ... the show needs Lalit Mohan back period !!!

The storyline going to comedy zone is mainly due to the CV"s probably trying to stretch out enough time to showcase that 6 months have gone by ... and I am fine by it till the point that it is done tastefully. I still remember the comic scenes done around New year & that was way better than what is being shown today (imagine we ranted at that time) Confused

Rabba Vey needs to be shoved into a closet for a couple of months. And since the serious track seems to be coming up *Finally* Tongue

... I am more than frantic now that LM comes back if not full time then for a couple of days per week which would at least bring the magic back to quite an extent.

So Halla bol it is ... am ready to join the Morcha ...with placards n all ...

HALLLA BOL indeed!!

difference...in december(faraq padta hai track) it was my behen ki shadi (and my real behen mind you)..and i was in my native town with no time to watch epis...i bloody spent a few thousand bucks on my roaming number trying to read updates and stuff on IF on phone.(yeah was there for almost 15 days..:\)

these days...(and the last few months in fact) i skip episodes, dont even bother watching the uncut arnav khushi scenes at times...

i have been told kal ka epi was good..but im like "how good can it be anyway?? as good as guest house?? as good as diwali? as good as apology??" NAH!!

kya karein yaar?:\

im kinda glad to be over the addiction (of the show NOT IF) but i feel bad because it has so damn much potential man!!

exactly shaam ... its like beating your head against a wall...

and yes, liking yesterday's episode is like making peace with mediocrity ... something i refuse to do - after we have seen scenes like TEEJ, DIWALI, JADU, TERI MERI, JANAMASHTMI, LIGHTS REMOVING ... the list is endless

there is nothing there, even worth watching live these days, let alone on YT

dont worry, we also rarely watch an episode these days, and even the comments of those who are accepting the forced rabba veys and barun sobti's naked chest, are not encouraging us to do so.

abbe, have u seen vicky donor??? go watch ... as a pucca dilliwaali u will love it bey!!!
