True Yuvi. In fact the more successful he is the more humble he is. He does charity work, but not for publicity. He helps others but not to make the public adore him more. He helps out his friends, but because he has a great heart. And that's what makes him a star for me.

People say Eid and I have become synonymous: Salman

Eid celebrations have remained unchanged in the last 30 years at Salim Khan's residence Galaxy Apartments. The festive spirit, the warmth, the hustle-bustle of family and friends, food being served en masse... it's all the same.

Step in to visit the Khans on Eid and the aroma of the biryani and sheer kurma are a feast for the senses. And there's usually a lot of laughter and merriment because of the sheer numbers of the people present.

The head of the family, Salim saab, didn't believe in rituals then, he doesn't believe in them now. This 'Khan'daan, which has Hindu, Christian and Muslim members, is the epitome of an Indian secular family where caste and creed are of no consequence. Says Salim, "You know I have never believed in any ritual. So on Eid, there is nothing special happening at home. Yes, my wife Salma gets some traditional items cooked; the children and the grandchildren come here and friends drop in."

Arbaaz repeats what his dad says. Says he, "My earliest memories of Eid are not any different from what happens in our home today. It has always been a special day because the family gets together and eats lunch. We are joined by friends. Our home has always been an open house and, frankly, it is like that 365 days a year. But on Eid, the dishes on the lunch menu change."

Of course, a regular visitor to Galaxy Apartments cannot but notice that since 2009, when Salman Khan started to become a phenomenon, things have changed. For one, the security around the building has been beefed up because droves of people come in from all over India to catch a glimpse of their idol on this special day. "Bas bhai ka ek nazara chahiye", you will hear fans chorus. And when Salman appears on his balcony in a T-shirt and jeans, the crowds feel they have received their 'eidi'.

For Salman, however, Eid will be a low-key affair this year. "My good friend Riteish Deshmukh lost his dad Vilasraoji," he says," adding, "I will therefore not be celebrating." He admits, though, that his way of giving 'eidi' to his fans is by giving them a new film each year on the festive occasion.

"I'm an entertainer. And my fans want nothing more than for me to give them a good film each year on this day," he says.

"When Wanted came on Eid in 2009, one didn't do it by design. However, after that, my producers started planning special Eid releases for me. And now, people say Eid and I have become synonymous. But honestly, mere ghar mein Eid, Ganpati, Christmas sab kuch manate hain. So to try and segregate one festival from the other is not my style," he signs off.

People say Eid and I have become synonymous: Salman

Salman Khan's parties on to Panvel

Flush with the success of his latest release, the actor is heading off to his farm house for mega celebrations...

He parties there only when he is extremely happy. The last time Salman Khan hosted a party at his Panvel farmhouse was on his 46th birthday in December 2011. And while a few A-listers made it to the guest list, the Khan invited only those who matter to him the most. The likes of Sooraj Barjatya, Subhash Ghai and even Anand Balraj, the actor with whom Salman used to go for auditions as a struggler.

And, looks like it's time to party hard once again. No prizes for guessing this one. The star is on cloud nine, courtesy his latest film Ek Tha Tiger having gone on to become a super hit.

Mostly, the big bash will happen on Tuesday. However, a final call on whether it will be Tuesday or Wednesday, will be taken by the family on Monday.

A source close to Salman told us, "With just three days to go, the entire Salman khandaan is busy helping him make arrangements for the khaana peena. Salman has told them to leave no stone unturned."

"It will be a double celebration of sorts. Salman will celebrate Eid also, along with the success of Ek Tha Tiger," said the source.

Ek Tha Tiger reaches Rs 100 crore mark

Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger has reached Rs 100 crore mark breaking all box-office records in India.

Ek Tha Tiger is on a record-breaking spree. The film started on humungous note on Wednesday (August 15 holiday) collecting Rs 32 crores on its opening day. Thereby it broke the record for the highest first day collection which was earlier held by Agneepath which collected Rs 22 crores. The business dipped on Thursday and Friday but again picked up over the weekend. If early estimates are to be believed, the first weekend collection should touch Rs 100 crores. It that is true Ek Tha Tiger will break another record for the highest opening weekend collections which was ealier held by Salman Khan's last release Bodyguard. The film has managed such huge figures because of the extended five-day weekend (since it released 2 days in advance on Wednesday). Even Bodyguard had released on Wednesday during the Eid of 2011.

Also Ek Tha Tiger would be the first film to reach the coveted Rs 100 crore mark in its opening weekend. Earlier this year, Housefull 2 and Bol Bachchan reached the Rs 100 crore mark but after two weeks.

Multiple shows, no opposition and Salman Khan's mass-appeal has helped the film gain such huge initials. Trade observers also add that the hike in ticket prices for Ek Tha Tiger has led to such huge numbers at such an early stage.

The coming week sees the release of Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi. The film marks the acting debut of Farah Khan and directorial debut of Bela Segal Bhansali, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's sister. It's a comedy about a middle-aged Parsi couple played by Boman Irani and Farah Khan.

The other release is a small independent release titled Delhi in a Day. Directed by Prashant Nair, the film stars Lee Williams, Lillete Dubey, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Victor Banerjee, Anjali Patil and Vidya Bhushan.

Salman to celebrate Ek Tha Tiger success

Even as his film touches Rs. 100 crore mark, Salman Khan plans a party in his farm house in Panvel to celebrate Ek Tha Tiger success. The bash would be organised on either Tuesday or Wednesday, reports Mumbai Mirror. "With just three days to go, the entire Salman khandaan is busy

helping him make arrangements for the khaana peena. Salman has told them to leave no stone unturned," a source close to Salman told the tabloid. "It will be a double celebration of sorts. Salman will celebrate Eid also, along with the success of Ek Tha Tiger," the source was quoted by the tabloid.

Once again the Tiger roars this Eid!

The Tiger is roaring and how! By the end of two days, Bollywood's most recent spy thriller had netted in over R60 crore in three days in India, making it a hat-trick of Eid blockbusters for Salman Khan after Dabangg (2010) and Bodyguard (2011). And now, it's party time.

This time, last year, Bodyguard had been busting the box-office, outscoring top-grossers like Ready, 3 Idiots and Dabangg with an opening of R 21.50 crore. But the festivities had been muted because Salman had flown off to the US to undergone surgery for a nerve disorder, trigeminal neuralgia, with brothers, Arbaaz and Sohail, and sister Alvira. Only his younger sister Arpita stayed back with his parents to bring in Eid and Ganpati. It was the first time Salman wasn't home for the festivals and he'd been unusually subdued as he left. Surprised by the huge media turnout at the airport, he'd worriedly asked Alvira, "Baby, is there something I don't know?."

Cut to September 4, 2011: Salman's surgery had gone off well, but that Saturday hadn't gone well for me. While shopping, I'd lost my cell phone and had to buy a new one. The first call was from Salman's publicist asking me if I'd be interested in an interview with the star who was recuperating in a hospital in New Jersey.

Operation US
It was almost 1.30 am when I was patched through. Salman sounded weak but upbeat. "I went in smiling and came out smiling," he told me. "It was expected to be a half-hour operation but stretched to almost eight hours. The
doctors are saying it went off well but the pain is still there. I was supposed to undergo two surgeries but they want to see how I respond to this one before they decide on the next. I'll have to come back after four months before I leave for Cuba for the shoot of Ek Tha Tiger."

There hasn't been another surgery. This April, when I met him, he'd finished his shoot in Cuba and waxed eloquent about the beautiful country with its woeful lack of infrastructure. Since no Bollywood film had been shot in the cigar land before, he'd been able to walk the streets freely. Sixty local dancers had joined him for a salsa section in Laapata', with Cuban musicians playing the bass section, trumpets, piano and the saxophone. By the time he left, Salman was a national hero and had even featured in a Cuban tourism ad.

The sunny Cubans made him smile but the memories also made him shiver. "Brrr, but it was cold after sudden showers and my pain escalated. May be some day, with advances in medical science, they'll find a cure for my illness but till then I have to live with it," he'd shrugged nonchalantly.

Switching gears, he'd then wondered why my phone rang more than his. "Who's calling you?" he demanded. Tongue-in-cheek I quipped, "Shah Rukh Khan, he has a press conference too today." For a minute there was pin-drop silence, then, Salman guffawed and everyone around, breathed a sigh of relief.

Laugh out loud
"It went off well, you actually made him laugh," his publicist commented while ushering me out. She'd been standing in attention with the others when I'd walked in because Salman hadn't taken a seat. "Shall we start?" he'd asked me. "Sure," I responded. "Baith ke baat karen (Can we sit and speak)." He smiled and waved me to a chair, sinking into one himself.

And in slow motion, so did everyone else. I've often wondered why most people are so intimidated by him. Maybe it's the dark frowns, his reputed dislike for the media or reports of his infamous temper. Whatever be the case, he's often perceived as a real tiger. But for me,  he's always been more of a pussycat than a wild one! Grrr, the roar's only for the box-office.

This will be a happy Eid for Salman because he's home again!

Once again the Tiger roars this Eid!

Ek Tha Tiger breaks first weekend record

Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger is making fresh records with each passing day. Now the film which has garnered about Rs. 59 crore at the box office in 3 days holds the highest ever first weekend collections record in Indian history.

"Ek Tha Tiger made an approx 11.75 Crores on it's 1st Friday at

the box office. After opening to a humongous 32.92 Crores and grossing 14.55 Crores on it's 2nd Day, Ek Tha Tiger looks pretty steady with  59.22 Crores in it's pocket," reports Koimoi.com.

SalmanThe movie might have seen a steady fall in its last two days but one can surely account that to working days not being huge grossing days. However, Ek Tha Tiger has created a new record at the Indian Box Office. In its 1st weekend (i.e. 1st 3 days run) it has grossed about 59 crores which is the highest ever in Indian history. Post Monday, when the fasting season of Ramadan gets over, there is no saying what collections will the movie make," adds the website.

2nd day collections
"After shattering every record possible to shreds Ek Tha Tiger moved to its 2nd day. As per early estimates the movie would have made 16 crores on it's Day 2 at the Indian Box Office. Ek Tha Tiger had grossed a humongous 32.92 crores on its Day 1 and its total box office collections till date stands at 48.92 crores," reported Koimoi.com.

"The fall was quite expected as Thursday was a working day and not a holiday unlike Wednesday. However, the movie is expected to hit the chords again this weekend. There is no doubt that Ek Tha Tiger will prove to be an all time blockbuster at the box office if it sustains its momentum even for a weekend," added the website.

1st day fever
"#EkThaTiger biz on Wed is humungous, historic. But wait for Eid celebrations. It will create History *again*. Picture abhi baaki hain!" Taran Adarsh wrote.

Salman and Katrina in Ek Tha Tiger

"The 1st day box office collections of Ek Tha Tiger can be simply termed in one word as 'spectacular'. Something like this has never before happened in Bollywood. The movie made an approx. 30 crores (as per early estimates) on it's Day 1 at the Indian box office. Ek Tha Tiger did not just do good in a few circuits as there is really no circuit where the movie didn't break apart a set record," reports Koimoi.com.

"Ek Tha Tiger has smashed the opening day collections of Hrithik Roshan's Agneepath which had amassed a mammoth 23 crores. The movie also broke the much hyped Shahrukh Khan's Ra.One opening day record of 25 crores. Salman is out to break all the box office records ever set in India," adds the website
