Just penning down some random thoughts..
"The Love Asana" is an M&B publication. It is the first M&B written by an Indian author (Milan Vora) and the story is set in India (New Delhi).
I read the book long before IPKKND aired.
There are some uncanny similarities between the plot of the book and IPKKND.
Here are some of the major ones.
BTW, the book makes a good read; do try to get your hands on it if possible.
This may be sort of a spoiler though...so ALERT!!
The male protagonist:
Vivan Parasher is one of the youngest and most successful entrepreneurs in India. He has single-handedly worked his way up from scratch and attained this position in society and in the corporate world.
He is ruthless and feels no qualms in stepping over others to get his own way. (sound familiar?)
He owns one of the largest fashion houses in the world and is currently looking at launching a new apparel brand in India, which has made him come back to India, to his hometown - Delhi.
He belongs to an affluent family however due to a twist of fate, he, along with his sister and mother, are forced to leave their beautiful bungalow in one of the poshest areas of Delhi and live on the streets. Vivan was very young at the time - he has seen his mother do odd jobs and struggle to make ends meet and to educate her children.
Vivan studies hard and goes abroad to study further. On completion of his education, he starts a small business venture, which slowly expands and grows to one of the biggest names in the world of fashion,
On returning to India, he reclaims his stake on his childhood home by purchasing it back at an astronomical price.
After his mother's death, Vivan's sister is all that he has left. She is the apple of his eyes and he would do anything for her.
His revenge story:
His sister has committed suicide and killed the last bit of emotion and love left in Vivaan. He has come back to India to investigate her death.
Hef finds out that she was dating some guy, who impregnated her and left her, leading to her decision to take her own life. Vivan is filled with the desire to avenge his sister's death, to punish the guy who was the reason behind this...Deepak.
Enter: the heroine:
Ok, the heroine Pari is nothing like Khushi so no similarities personality-wise.
However, she is a loving and caring sibling, who will do anything for her adorable bhaiya..Deepak!!
Vivaan believes Pari to be the kind who has affairs with married men and breaks the home and happiness of others..due to a rumour that he heard..not knowing that she was the innocent victim... (you've heard this before..haven't you?)
The contract marriage:
Vivan wants Deepak to suffer as he has suffered. He wants Deepak the pain of knowing that his sister is not happy.
Deepak's ad agency is going bankrupt and winning a contract from a big name like Vivan's company would definitely help to get back on their feet again.
Vivan offers a deal to Pari - a contract marriage in return for bailing our her brother's sinking business.
Pari has no idea why he wants to marry her, but she does it just for the sake of her Bhaiya's happiness. She doesn't tell anyone why she is marrying Vivaan as she doesn't want to add to Deepak's worries.
(Deepak is married and his wife is pregnant, he is also desperate to save his business).
Their marriage is filled with moments where their awareness of each other and an inexplicable attraction seems to be magnetically pulling them to
Apart from the above, there's the usual chemistry sizzling between the lead duo..but that's true of an M&B so can't call it a similarity.. :)
Like i said...some random thoughts..hope you din't get too bored reading it...
