It is the inner turning of edges of eyelid (usually lower eyelid). Simply put, entropion is the inversion of the eyelid. This results in rubbing of eyelashes on the surface of eye. This leads to discomfort, irritation, and pain in eye.
Entropion is commonest in old patients, as they usually have facial muscle weakness. This causes the lid to turn inward. Eye conditions like trachoma can also cause scarring of the inner side of the lid, leading to entropion.
