Megha's heart fluttered in
a great tension. What would be judge's verdict? She thought and instantly
glanced at Mohan who was as restless as her.
"Patrakar Mohan Bhatnagar ke dowara hume jo asli saboot mile hai, usse yeh
sabit hota hai ki asli mujlim Mr. Amar Vyas nahi, balki, Mr. Deenanath hai. Iss
liye yeh adaalat unhe umar qaid ki sazaa sunaati hai..."
Everyone stood up except Megha. She kept on sitting and grinning in herself.
The tarnish from her husband's image had been removed. Everyone knew that he
was a respectable person. This realization brought tears of joy in her eyes
along with the smile of satisfaction on her face.
Nanhi hugged her as she equally understood what they had achieved today and how
happy her mother was. Megha contently hugged her back.
Mohan witnessed it from far away and pleasantly smiled. His heart danced in joy
on seeing the innocent grin on the face of his best friend. Then his eyes
landed on Megha. For the first time, he saw her smiling in that way. There was
something different in Mirchi madam that day, he thought and the next moment,
he wondered as to why he was thinking all that, which actually meant nothing in
his life. Shaking his head in disbelief, he went outside.
--
Deenanath furiously stared at the handcuffs around his hands and then at Mohan,
who smirked at him.
"Mohan Bhatnagar, tumne yeh accha nahi kiya..."
"Ab mujhe tujhse sikhna padega ki maine kya accha kiya aur kya nahi? Chal
mera time waste mat kar aur jaa... jaha tujhe hona chahiye..." Mohan
snapped back at him with an irritating and annoyed look.
"Tune kya socha hai ki mujhe jail pohochaakar tu shanti se rehe paayega?
Kabhi nahi... Tera dimaag thikaane pe le aane ka intezaam maine kar diya
hai..." Deenanath evilly said and left with the police.
Mohan confusedly thought about his words and tried to understand what he really
meant. After some time, he ignored it and contently started to walk down the
stairs that led him to his bike.
Just then, he saw Megha and Nanhi holding hands and crossing the road and a
truck coming towards them in a high speed.
Fear took upon him. He ran as fast as he could and shouted at the highest pitch
of his voice, "Nanhi..."
Megha looked around as she felt that she heard a familiar voice and the next moment, she noticed the truck almost near her and Nanhi. She widened her eyes in shock and immediately pushed Nanhi aside. Within a blink of an eye, the truck hit Megha terribly and went away.
Mohan stood there, numb and dumbfounded. "Mummaaa..." Nanhi shouted with a horrified expression.
--
Nanhi's tiny eyes, which were covered with her pink glasses, were filled with a flood of tears. She kept her eyes lowered.
Mohan stared at her and his heart cried out on seeing her crying like that. He walked near and sat next to her.
"Nanhi.." he slowly called her.
Nanhi raised her eyes and blinked once. Tears flowed from her eyes.
"Aisey rona bandh kar yaar..." Mohan consoled her.
Unable to control her feelings anymore, Nanhi broke in Mohan's arms. "Spiderman, tum humesha meri madat karte ho. Abhi meri mummy ko thik kardo naa plz..."
For the first time, Mohan Bhatnagar felt helpless on realizing that he couldn't help his best friend. This thought brought drops of tears in his eyes too. He hurriedly wiped them off and hugged Nanhi.
"Teri mummy bilkul thik ho jaayegi. Bas tujhe strong hona padega aur mujhe pata hai ki tu yeh kar sakti hai..." Mohan tried to give her strength.
Nanhi broke the hug and wiped her tears. "Main humesha strong rahungi... Mummy ke liye Krishnaji se pray karungi..." She said firmly and went to the temple.
Mohan stood up, walked near the ICU and peeked inside through the window. Seeing Megha unconscious with bandages around her head made him feel guilty. "Agar time pe pohoch jaata tou..." he literally choked his words as his feelings overwhelmed himself.
Frustrated, he punched against the wall and closed his eyes. Just then, the arguments and the conversations he had with Megha flashed in his mind. Shocked and confused, he opened his eyes. Tears were gushing at a high speed. Yes, Mohan Bhatnagar was crying for his Mirchi madam whom he actually hated so much, but if he hated her, what were tears doing in his eyes? He wondered. Was he fearing of loosing the person with whom he quarreled so much? Did she become his daily-life habit without whom he couldn't think of surviving?
