Navya
Director Ravi Bhushan feels less of drama inNavya had led to fall in the TVRs of the show. But he is content with the loyal set of viewers the show has fetched.

Television show Navya started with a promising start. There was a time when the show's TVR reached to more than 3 thereby catapulting it to the Top 10 programmes among the GECs (General Entertainment Channels). However, gradually the show's TVRs have witnessed a drop and have not been that impressive.

Now, Navya is aired on the 6 pm time band on Star Plus. But the TVRs do not bother its director Ravi Bhushan as he feels the show has managed to get the required loyal viewership. "Navya has had a small viewership, which has been loayl" says Ravi who adds, "We didn't get into too much drama. It is where we lost Women audience. We focused on Subtle emotions."

And the director feels, no matter what he will stick to the idea of bringing something different to the small screen. "I would only like to do shows that I personally like to direct," says he who feels what is making all the difference today is "the increased number of channels and more number of shows these days. Owning to low TVRs, the longevity of a show gets affected, as a result."

Ravi says, "In India, we are not getting into a varied kind of programming. We don't have anything other than the saas bahu drama. A diverse platter like travel shows, auto shows, science related shows are Missing, which need to be given thought to."

Thats so true Tanu. And what a shame that good shows have to be sacrificed at the alter of TRPs. But I feel KTLK loses its TRPs because of its inconsistency and several other problems...like excessive negativity, lack of continuity, and of course excessive use of body doubles...If they concentrate on these few points they can always get back the lost TRps and viewers

Agree with u totally.. per say SONY ... is a channel that has always put up ..shows with urban connect and subtle drama! And where KTLK lacks big time is its script and inconsistency in tracks

@Tanu: tfs.. The headline of this topic u posted bit shocked as i thought it ws related to ktlk...Phew! It didn't.:) wat navyya director said is really true & honest words he spoke abt our indian viewers(mass) hv narrow minded soaps that they like saas bahu's.. It takes time for differnt serial to make full on impact on viewers..i hope ktlk frm nowadays will be able to bring that faith in mass viewers..by giving meaningful tracks with kinds of ingredients that is must for trp rise yet keeping the orginal concept of the show intact...

Sorry.. din mean to scare... ðŸ˜Š  Just a director/ph ADMITTING it on NATIONAL NEWSPAPER is pretty impactful and gives a realistic (tho sad) picture of the working of the industry..

We all want CHANGE ..but are we ready to support it..

TFS Tanu...

Felt same as Ithasme...got a shock ...

Agree our show is suffering becoz of inconsistency and weak script...otherwise it has a first class cast ...hopefully KTLK improves slowly and we can see the show to it's natural conclusion and not a abrupt one !!!

@Tanu: we all are ready for change bt it(shows) need to be promoted in such way that it brings viewers in..:) you r right sony does cater urban more than mass bt sme of their shows like CID,BALH & comedy circus r mass oriented shows which is why they get huge trp's unlike ktlk though it hs famous names in shows yet finding hard to get big trp's...so sad..:( hopefull of rise in trp of ktlk..:)

Yep agreed... but BALH doesnt hv typical Saas-Bahu.. i think its the huge popularity of Ram-Sakshi which is driving the TRPs along wit a bit more consistency in tracks..!! Kya hua is more like KTLK in terms that its subject and presentation as of yet is not as dramatized as other Kekta shows...

Btw.. see.. one more TVR related article..

Will Uttaran survive the competition?

A still from Uttaran

The TV serial Uttaran has a unique way of bouncing back each time it slips down the Television Rating Point (TRP). The show that has gone on for the last three years has made its way back on to the top ten charts. Past couple of months it had gone down with people getting bored of the same old story, but last week with some big twists it managed to return to the number 7 slot on the TRP chart.

Right now the focus is on Iccha's child, who was taken away by nani. The creative team is trying to hard to make each episode interesting. But there's pressure on them, what with other channels eyeing that 10 pm slot. Sony TV recently started Kya Jua Tera Vada and Star Plus has just started Sajda to compete with Uttaran. Some time ago, the new channel Like Ok too put its best show Saubhagyavati in the same time slot. Clearly there's stiffcompetition for Uttaran. Will the creative team manage to survive and keep themselves afloat? Let's wait and see what the ratings wil be this week.
