Mohit Raina has been approached to play Shiv in Contiloe Telefilms' next on Star Plus...

A few days ago we broke the news of Contiloe Telefilms making a mythological show to be based on the life of Shiva's first wife Sati.


The latest buzz that is doing the rounds is that Mohit Raina who was last seen on Sahara One has been roped in to play the role of Shiv opposite Mouni Roy. The show will be aired on Star Plus and the pilot has already been shot with Mouni.


When contacted Mohit, he sternly said, "Yes I have been approached and talks are on but nothing is confirmed yet." We also tried to get a word from Abhimanyu Singh, the Producer of the show, but he remained unavailable.


With Mohit being added to this multifaceted cast, the viewers are surely in for a treat…

Still in its pre-production stages, Traingular Media Productionof Mahadev is putting in all their efforts to make the venture big...

Tellybuzz had earlier reported about Triangular Media coming up with a mythology called 'Mahadev' for Star Plus. Now we come up with some more exclusive news for our readers.

The shooting for Mahadev is expected to start by the first week of November. Mouni Roy and Saurabh Raj Jain are already an integral part of the cast but veteran actor Surendra Pal is the latest to join hands with the cast.

We are also told that the show will now be aired on Star Desh, a revamped version of the current Star One. Our source states, "The show titled as Mahadev is now shifting to Star Desh and won't telecast on Star Plus as of now.

 "Along with this development, Surendra Pal currently seen on Sahara One's Neem Neem Shahad Shahad will essay a pivotal role in the show. Surendra Pal will essay the role of Raja Daksh who is Sati or Parvati's father, "adds source.

We contacted Surendra Pal who confirmed the buzz saying, "Yes, I have been approached to essay Raja Daksh but final talks are still on."

The set for this epic has been erected in Naigaon and apparently the producers have shelled out around three crore rupees to make the set lavish incorporating Kailash Parbat and the necessary feel in it.

We hope that this grand show gets an equal number of votes from the viewers…

The Parichay actor has been approached for a pivotal role in this mythology...

A Contiloe production is making a mythology on Star Plus tentatively titled as Sati for which Mouni Roy has been finalized to essay the lead role of Parvati (Shiv's wife).

As the show progresses, a few changes and development have taken shape. "One such is the inclusion of actor Saurabh Jain in the core cast of the show. Having made an exit from Colors Parichay Nayee Zindagi Kay Sapno Ka recently, Saurabh has been approached to play Vishnu. The show has been renamed as Mahadev and the final casting is still on,"adds source.

"The Contiloe show has been handed over to Triangular Production, the producers of Baba Aiso Varr Dhundo. Therefore, the whole cast except Mouni Roy has been changed. Saurabh Jain, last seen in Parichay has been approached to essay the role of Vishnu in the show," said an industry official.

We contacted Saurabh Jain who asserted, "Yes, I have been approached for the show and talks are on, nothing has been finalized as of now."

It seems last minute changes have become a daily routine in tellydom. Its the viewers who have to adapt to them...

Revamped Star One promises a big bang launch...

Life OK has decided to make it big by introducing Devo Ke Dev Mahadev as their first show on the channel.

We hear that along with Mouni Roy, Mohit Raina and Surendra Pal as a part of the cast, Shalini Kapoor Sagar and Rajeev Bhardwaj will also play major roles.

Shalini,last seen in Geet Hui Sabse Parayi as Geet's mom will essay the role Daksh's wife, Prasuti whereas Maurya fame Rajeev will play the role of Rishi Kashyap in the show.

We contacted Rajeev Bhardwaj who confirms, "Yes, I will be essaying Rishi Kashyap. He is a sole Rishi who stands by Lord Shankar."

So get ready to witness your Star One turning Life OK…

The show is awe-inspiring with respect to its production values.The locales, the settings, the costumes (especially the ones worn by Sati and her jewellery) are stunning but the performances are average

With the exception of Om Namah Shivay, which aired many years ago, Lord Shiva has largely been overlooked by Hindi serial makers. Life OK's new offering Devon Ka Dev Mahadev is like a breath of fresh air and a terrific lesson in the life of the bairagi destroyer, Shiva. It wouldn't be wrong if you can call it a divine love story between Shiva and Sati, the youngest daughter of Prajapati Daksh, the arrogant son of Lord Brahma.

Inspired by the writings of Devdutt Patnaik (who has produced some seminal work on Shiva, retold Mahabharata and dealt with mythology in the last couple of years to bring it within the realm of the common man's understanding) and Bodhisatva, Mahadev is about Daksh's denial about the significance of Shiva and his daughter's love for the Lord. The show begins with Daksh's sthapana of the statue of Lord Vishnu. Everything seems to be in good order till the sages point out a glaring aspect that is lacking. There is no Shivalinga and hence the statue won't budge inside the temple. Not one to accept defeat, the arrogant King asks for parijaat flowers for the Narayani yagya he wants to perform for the installation of the statue. Sati volunteers to go to the forests to collect the flowers and that's when she stumbles upon Shiva's existence. Much as Sati tries to pull herself away from the vagabond God, she finds herself increasingly drawn towards him.

The show is awe-inspiring with respect to its production values. The locales, the settings, the costumes (especially the ones worn by Sati and her jewellery) are stunning. However, the performances are average and the dialogues are cliched like 'Main chupchaap saare dukh sehti rahi' to the 'Main pratiksha karoongi, sheeghra hi apeksha' stuff.

Mohit Raina as the mighty Mahadev is quite striking as far as the physical aspect is concerned. However, we would want him to be a little more expressive. Mouni Roy as the petite, fragile Sati is also stiff. She leaves a lot to be desired in the emotional scenes. She tries hard to convey the pathos and the pain but in vain.

We wish someone better with more depth was cast in her place. It's a pleasure to see Surendra Pal as the arrogant Daksh, despite him scowling most of the time. The rest of the cast pitch in good performances.

Notwithstanding the minor flaws, Mahadev is an engaging watch.

Verdict: An absolute must-watch!
