Why doesn't Jassi's family have medical insurance??

Is the whole system of Medical insurance the same in India as it is here in the US?  just curious?

good question, cuz this is ridiculous...it happens in every show and
movie...come up with the paisa or get out, but where does the patient
go??? Don't doctors take an oath to serve their patients?

hey guys.. that is because they do not have the concept of medical insurance in india.. That is why you see that scene in every other serial... most of the time you get treated only if you have money.. even in most governament hospitals..

 There is no medical insurance for ordinary people in India.They can buy some but most cannot afford.On the one hand we have some world class private hospitals like Apollo chains and Breach Kandy while free treatmemnt in Govt hospitals is just below even sub standard.

Yes, private hospitals first want cash and then only treatment.

tanx Lakshmi! So I am assuming medical insurance will remain unseen in
indian society cuz if medical insurance comes about then every one of
these serials will loose the plot of make sure you come up with the money
otherwise no surgery.

don't doctors have to treat paitents first and then think about the money.

 there is medical  insurance here also! me and my hubby both have it! but the difference is that either you have to avail it personally ( like me) or your office will provide it( like my hubby's). but state does not provide it for all. so,poor people obviously cannot enjoy the benefits!
