Shah Rukh Khan isn't mincing his words. The actor admits he's disappointed with the way he feels his film Ra.One was shortchanged by critics. SRK reveals that he was hoping his endeavour to "introduce a new genre to Hindi cinema" would be acknowledged, even if the film itself wasn't wholeheartedly embraced.

He has said that he finds Indian critics don't show the same grace towards Indian films (and also make fewer allowances for Indian films) that they do for Hollywood and foreign cinema. Pointing to reviews that praised Andy Serkis for his performance as Captain Haddock in Tintin, and Caesar the monkey in Rise of the Planet of the Apes recently—both achieved through performance-capture technology, in which an actor 'acts' out the part, but is rendered on the screen as a different character—Shah Rukh has said the same generosity and enthusiasm isn't shown locally: "For the actor who played Jaadu the extra-terrestrial in Krrish, for example. Does anyone even know who the actor in that costume was?"

SRK says foreign reviews for Ra.One at least commended the filmmakers' attempt to introduce "cutting-edge special effects" to Hindi movies, whereas Indian reviews "judged me personally instead of the film". He also pooh-poohs rumours that his plans to make a sequel have been aborted now. "As soon as I can raise the money and come up with a watertight script, I'll make a bigger, better sequel," he threatens.

Wedding Planner Needed

Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan have made it clear that there will be no wedding bells until they release Agent Vinod. And given just how many times that film has shifted from its intended release date, industrywallas are joking that fans shouldn't exactly hold their breath for the nikaah.

According to the latest buzz, Saif's ambitious home production will be ready for an end February 2012 release. But Eros International, the film's co-producers, have decided they're not going to make their oft-repeated mistake of announcing a release date too soon. They've figured they'd rather wait until director Sriram Raghavan delivers the final edit before making an official announcement.

Another hiccup in the way of the film's intended February release is the fact that leading lady Kareena Kapoor already has another film coming out the same month. Her Ek Main Aur Ek Tu opposite Imran Khan is slated to open on 10 February, and industry pundits are of the opinion that there ought to be at least a few weeks inbetween both films.

Moving Agent Vinod further along the calendar isn't an option, given that March and April are considered relatively slower months because of school exams, followed by the IPL.

The summer is already crowded with other big movies, and shifting the film's release too far out also means repeating the February conundrum, since Kareena already has her Aamir Khan-starrer Talaash scheduled to open in the first week of June. That doesn't leave the makers of Agent Vinod with too many options. They've zeroed in on February, it appears. If Mr Raghavan stops tinkering with the edit and delivers the picture, that is.

The Vanity Case

This has-been female star is in no hurry to quell rumours that she's romantically involved with her close friend, who's a partner with her in a film production company she started recently. The gentleman in question has been seen by her side at several public occasions recently, and even played co-host at a party she threw for her industry friends to celebrate the opening of her new office.

Film industry sources, however, reveal it's not the partner-friend that the actress is in a relationship with, but a Pune builder who has close ties with an NCP politico. The story goes that it's her Pune boyfriend who has invested nearly Rs 80 crore in her new production venture, which has allowed her to buy a residential flat in London, an office in Mumbai, and the expensive designer bags and shoes that she flaunts each time she's at a public function.

Insiders joke that it's hard to tell if the actress is hiding her boyfriend because he's not exactly easy on the eye (poor chap— good enough to financially exploit, but not presentable enough to show off), or because she wants to carry on giving everyone the impression that she's a self-made woman.

Avinash Bhosale adds spice to Kamalistan plot

After Bollywood star Preity Zinta, the city's influential real-estate baron Avinash Bhosale has emerged as a player in the controversial dispute over Amrohis' Rs 600-crore property

The dispute over Kamalistan Studio, valued at over Rs 600 crore, has taken a new turn.

After the bitter public fight between legendary director Kamal Amrohi's three children and the mysterious involvement of actor Preity Zinta in the dispute, it now emerges that one-third of Mahal Pictures Pvt Ltd, which has controlling stake, has been pledged to Pune's powerful builder Avinash Bhosale. Bhosale, who has enviable political connections, was last in the news for hosting Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie when they were in Pune for a film shoot.

Kamal Amrohi's eldest son Shandar, who wants to will his share to Preity Zinta and who is at odds with his sister Rukhsar and her son Waseem, has alleged in court that mother and son stole his shares from his house on the pretext of a social visit, and after forging his signatures pledged the shares to Sanchita Realty Private Limited.

The agreement, Shandar has alleged, was signed on February 25 this year.

Sanchita Realty is owned by Bhosale and has its registered office at Bhosale Pavilion, Deccan Gymkhana,  Pune.

When contacted, Bhosale confirmed that the shares had indeed been pledged with his company but refused to elaborate further adding: "The matter is in court now, let that settle, I cannot talk until then."

Bhosale, who used to drive an autorickshaw in the eighties, has scaled dizzying heights since. He now routinely bids for government contracts and is among Pune's largest property developers. He has a palatial mansion in Aundh where he hosts top-notch celebrities and politicians.

It is learnt that Bhosale has, since 2003, been keen on acquiring the 16-acre studio built over a no-development zone area. During Sushil Kumar Shinde's tenure he had even made attempts to get this land converted to a development zone, but failed.

Bhonsale's connection with the Kamalistan controversy is further stirring the pot. On the last hearing of the case in the High Court on Thursday — Shandar's lawyers, Darshan Mehta of Dhruve Liladhar and Company,  senior counsel Navroze Seervai and Dinyar Madon — wanted to know from where Waseem got Rs 40 crore to buy the shares from Shandar and what was the source of Rukhsar's Rs 60 crore that she mysteriously received in her bank account.

Justice R Y Ganoo who heard the case asked the lawyers appearing in the matter if there was a development plan for Kamalistan studio that has been the subject matter of dispute.

Rukhsar has said that the transfer of shares in Waseem's name by Shandar was a genuine transaction which Shandar was now disputing under the influence of Amrohi's other son Tajdar and actor Preity Zinta, who came into the limelight when she started helping Shandar in this case. Shandar has also said he considers the actor as his adopted daughter.

The pledge agreement reads that Rukhsar and Waseem will sell and transfer one lakh square metres slum TDR for Rs 100 crore. If they fail to perform their obligation by August 31, 2010, they will refund the entire amount within seven days and pay further Rs 100 crores in damages to Sanchita.

Another agreement was also executed with Sanchita Realty granting an irrevocable and unconditional option to purchase and acquire the securities for Rs 100 crore.

It is an admitted fact by Waseem that he has pledged 3,600 shares that he allegedly bought for Rs 40 crore from Shandar to Sanchita Realty. Whether Rukhsar has pledged her share or not is the subject matter of dispute.

Waseem Amrohi said that he agrees and stands by the pledge of shares with Sanchita Realty owned by Avinash Bhosale. Rukhsar Amrohi refused to comment on the status of her shares. The case will now come up for hearing on April 9. Till then, HC has asked all the parties concerned to maintain status quo.

The dispute
The dispute, which had first come to light when Shandar filed a case in the Bombay High Court alleging his sister had fraudulently taken over his shares in the parent company Mahal Pictures Pvt Limited, took another dramatic turn this week when Rukhsar responded with an affidavit dismissing his charges and blaming Preity Zinta for influencing him due to "ulterior motives".

Two years ago, in February 2008, the eldest brother Shandar agreed to sell his shares in the company for Rs 40 crore to Kingstar Realtors Pvt Ltd, a firm owned by Mahesh Luthria of the former Sea Rock group. By the time his other siblings learnt about this arrangement, Shandar had already received an initial payment of Rs 3.5 crore from Luthria.

When the Mahal Pictures board took up the matter a few weeks later, they rejected the proposed deal on the grounds that none of the directors had the right to sell their share of the company to an outside party without looking for buyers within the family first.

Later that year, Shandar Amrohi was removed as a director and the deadlock remained until 2010, when Mahesh Luthria finally approached Rukhsar's son Waseem in a bid to get his money back from Shandar. Luthria told Waseem that since he was a member of the family, Mahal Pictures would have no objection if he bought the shares directly from his uncle for Rs 40 crore. In return, Luthria would get the Rs 3.5 crore he had paid Shandar at the time of the agreement.

Waseem and Rukhsar say that the shares were duly transferred and the money paid, but Shandar denies this, saying the shares were stolen from his house.

Waseem and Rukhsar also say that a board meeting was held on February 25 to announce Waseem as one of the new directors of the company, but the other brother Tajdar says such a meeting never took place and has filed a separate case in the High Court

Wow...Masand is sorta dissing SRK...how can that happen when he is good pals w/ KJo?!?

The last one I think is Amisha Patel. Zayed is married, no? So, an affair with him wouldn't make sense? (Not that I'm ruling out the chances of infidelity...but it would make a whole new gossip and would've been mentioned).

The bonds between KJo and SRK are weakening...ever weakening...it will be interesting to see how this pans out though I think SRK will dump his problem once he sees that "it" is coming between him and the establishied families of B'town.
You see, his "problem" is just as much an outsider as he is...and a coupla months in the USA do NOT a western pop-star make.
Trust me on this, chickies...born & bred American here...it aint gonna happen.
Once SRK twigs he'll drop his problem like a hot rock.

My money is on it being over by early March. Let's watch and see 😉
