Balaji Telefilms ''Kasautii Zindagi Kay'' is one of the most POPULAR daily soap,telecasted on Star Plus from Monday to Thursday,at 8:30 p.m.This is a typical Ekta Kapoor family drama which has one HONEST and a GOODY GOODY GIRL and on the other hand there is a WITCH,an EVIL lady who wants to destroy(BARBAAD)the family.GOOD vs EVIL.
The family is the BASU PARIWAAR(family).There are different kind of characters in this family!
THE CHARACTERS AND THEIR PERFORMANCES:
MOLOY BASU(Deepak Qazir):He is the head of the Basu family.The father of an obedient son(Anurag Basu),and he is a husband who respects his wife(Mohini Basu).He is very close to his friend Rajesh Sharma.Deepak Qazir,does not have enough scope to perform here as much as he has in ''Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii'',still he does full justic to his role.
MOHINI BASU(Kannu Gill):The wife of Moloy Basu,Mohini Basu was an arrogant lady,who did not want her son Anurag to marry the daughter of Rajesh Sharma.The reason was that Rajesh Sharma was not so rich,as much as they were,so she forced his son to marry Komolika,a rich girl.Kannu Gill has nothing special to do in this serial,still she acts well,in whatever little she has to do.
ANURAG BASU(Cezzane Khan):He is an obedient son of their parents.Anurag fell in love with Prerna Sharma,the daughter of Rajesh Sharma.Before marriage,he became a father and his son was from Prerna.As his mother forced him,he married Komolika,though he loved Prerna.Cezzane Khan is SIMPLY SUPERB,in a role which offers him a lot of scope to perform and he has lived the character of Anurag.
PRERNA SHARMA(Shweta Tiwaari):Prerna,is a talented girl and respects everyone.She is the daughter of Rajesh Sharma and Veena Sharma.Before marriage,she became mother of Prem,the son of Anurag Basu.Later on,when Anurag discovered what Komolika was up to,he was going to marry Prerna but they could not meet and Rishabh Bajajforced Prerna to marry him.Shweta Tiwari is the bubbly,sweet,typical EKTA KAPOOR SERIAL HEROINE.She is outstanding in emotional sequences,especially where Rishabh Bajaj comes back.
KOMOLIKA(Urvashi Dholakia):An Ekta Kapoor serial looks empty without a lady villian,so here we have Komol-ikaa.She is the most dangerous lady.She is even stronger than the Rani Of Jhansi or a WWE lady wrestler.She loves money and first of all she got married to Anurag,and when he discovered her dangerous plans,she got married to Shubratho Basu,the cousin of Anurag and now she is going to DESTROY the family.Urvashi Dholakia...the lady whose looks can kill any guy.When she wears a sarre,and does her catwalk,she takes away the breath of every guy.Her eyes are her sex appeal and she acts with her eyes.She has breathed life into the character of Komolika.
RISHABH BAJAJ(Ronit Roy):Rishabh Baja is the father of two young teen-ager children and he also has a daughter who was blind,once upon a time.He is the head of BTN channel and he is going to destroy Basu publication,if Prerna doesn't marry him,so Prerna,to save Basu family,marries him.He also has a wife Menaka Bose,who left him many years ago.Ronit Roy,is one another excellent performer in the serial.He acts ably and his dialogue delivery is very impressive.
MENAKA BOSE(Ruby Bhatia):The modern lady,who lives with her dogs,wanted to be a successful lady and her ex-husband,Rishabh Bajaj didn't accepted it,so she left him,when her children were small.Now,a successful lady,Menaka wants her husband and children back.Rishabh Bajaj had an accident but he didn't die,and she announced that he died,though she knew he was alive.She got Anurag and Prerna married and kept Rishabh with him,because he was helpless.Ruby Bhatia is the glamorous lady,who makes a comeback after a long time,but not as a V.J(whom our MS member Premjithates).She is back as an actress in a family drama.She looks stylish and she speaks very gently and softly.She has also performed very well!
Other characters,from this serial are Vishakha,Tushar,Koki,Nivedita Basu,Shekhar,Suman,Geeta,Shivani and Mitalli,who lend a commendable support!
THE STORY NOWADAYS:
Rishabh Bajaj,is back and he can now speak.Prerna feared that she would have to leave Anurag again.She was very nervous and when Rishabh asked Prerna to come back in his life,she disagreed saying that he didn't give divorce to Menaka,so it was also unfair.After so many trials,Rishabh landed himself to the conclusion that he would act sweet and would be nice towards Anurag and Prerna and sweetly,he will get Prerna back.Komolika,made plans,and while Prerna was working for BTN channel,by saying that Prerna and Rishabh must be having a nice time together.Mohini Basu,adviced Prerna to leave Rishabh Bajaj's office,and Prerna did so.Rishabh sweared that Prerna would return back to office,as well as to his house.Shubhrato tried to get the property of Anurag's child Prem but doing this he was caught and now with is wife Komolika,is under arrest,because Anurag and his sister Nivedita Basu filed a case against him.
DIRECTION AND THE WORK OF THE CREW:
The direction of this serial is excellent,especially the emotional and dramatic scenes are handled very well,and they completely involve the lady audience,especially.Whenever,Komolika makes plans and a lady says ''NIKAAAA'',the serial totally grips the attention of the viewer.Screenplay is equally good!Editing is not so good and the serial is unnecessarily dragged with some song sequences between Indroveer and Mitalli Sharma,or some emotional songs between Anurag and Prerna.The title song by Babul Supriyoand Priya Bhattacharya is wonderful and both the singers have sung it wonderfully.Moreover,it is picturized beautifully!
ON THE WHOLE:
''Kasautii Zindagi Kay'' is a complete TIME-PASS which would not let us feel bore.Regular viewers would definitely,enjoy this!Where we have Prerna on one hand and on the other hand Komolika,they will never fail to ENTERTAIN us!
