We have public transport systems

U know some what like Nazi chambers. Cry Cry

2.Best Buses.

Slums on both the sides of the road decreasing actual width of the roads causing heavy traffic jams in most of the parts of Mumbai.

Yes, Metro has brought a see change in Delhi. 1st phase is over I think. 2nd phase is in progress and when 3rd phase gets completed it will be revolutionary for Delhi. This is all thanks to one man, E.Sreedharan, MD of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). 2010 Commonwealth Games will mean that Delhi will get more infrastructure projects. More flyovers, more roads etc.. One thing authorities must do is to clean Yamuna river, I cross it daily to office. It stinks like a nallah and looks like too. Even after hundreds of crores there is no improvement. I think they will have to do it bec'se proposed commonwealth games village is near Yamuna (adjacent to Akshardham Temple). All unauthorised commercial constructions alongside major roads (example South Ex) will be demolished due to Supreme Court's order. And if we apply for 2020 Olympic I am sure they will be held in Delhi again.

BTW, what happened to Mumbai Metro project? Hasn't it been approved?

Throw the same influx of population on Delhi that Mumbai gets and let us see what happens with those metro trains

LOL   U r too much SB.

I never meant any disrespect to her. Agreed that she needs her privacy and that she has definitely earned her right to stay there. No question about it.

My only point in contention is rules need to be applied uniformly to all.

When the JJ flyover in Mohd. Ali road was being commissioned, many homes got displaced. By and far that is the most crowded area and the flyover just followed the turns and curves of the previous road below. It literally hugs the houses along the road. Yet in the name of development and infrastructure and to ease the congestion in that part of Bombay, their pleas were struck down and the flyover was constructed.

If that rule could have been applied there then, why not in Pedder Road.

Is the voice of Lata Mangeshkar or her privacy or the privacy of those residents of Peddar Road far more important than those who live in the other areas.

Did not the residents of Sion and Mohd. Ali road earn the right to live in that area.

The idea is not vengeful. The idea is to implement, across Mumbai, the same rule for all.

After all, what applies to the goose must apply to the gander as well Wink

I agree with most people in the forum. The flyovers in Western Mumbai area are becoming a must as the traffic clogging is becoming an impossible and unacceptable reality in that route right from Bandra to Peddar Road area. For overall social benefits, it does not matter if the interests of a particular minority has to be sacrificed.

Lataji is a great artiste and a singer of a lifetime, but I think that her demands are a bit too vested.
