25-x^2 equal to an integer:

this question should be reported as wrong. Here is the reason why:

0 is not an integer...1,2,3,...infinity are POSITIVE integers.

thus 5^2 = 25 => the equation results in a 0 (not an integer).

Thus the equation holds true for infinite values if we include negative integers, and for 4 values if we include only positive integers (4,3,2,1). Since 4 is not an option on the question, this question is a fallacy!!!

Pams...whaddya think of my analysis...because if we count the way you are counting, then the question should read:

for what integer values of x is 25-x^2 an integer that has a defined whole number as square root:

In this case also, the answer is 4 --> -4,-3,3,4

Well...the question was wrong then...because hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe (including the earth!!) but it does not exist in free form (it combines easily with other elements). However, the question imposed no restrictions on elements combining with other elments Cry I am sorry that their questions are always incomplete...
