"Millennium Development Goals are actually to end poverty. THey are all connected and the ultimate goal is to end poverty. Single drops make a clean ocean and then we as single persons have the power to change things and then we are united, and then we push our governments to do what they have to do for us. Every year 2 million people are dying of Tuberculosis and there's been a cure for 40 years, and its quite a shame actually becuase the governments are not putting things together for people to access the medicines.

We are the first generation that can end poverty and we refuse to miss this opporunity. We have no time to lose. People are dying, children are dying, so do something now. No excuses, promises must be kept. All our voices together is going to make it happen. We are 6 billion voices and the world will do what we say. Only with your voice."

A.R. Rahman, Musician

Everyone tell me that I am able to exact good music out of A.R.Rahman. I feel that if you are able to tell the concept of the film convincingly and properly to Rahman, he comes out with amazing songs for the situations. He is a genius and an amazing human being. He is an example of how a perfect human being should be.

Bearing Rahman

Maa tujhe salaam. Life for AR Rahman is no different from his art. Which is why the music director is supposed to have declined giving music to any film showing nudity (this was even before his music was cut short by Mangal Amir Khan and he decided to stop lending his art to historical films). Besides being uncomfortable with the subject itself, Rahman was compromised by the fact that he was working from home then and his mother could walk into his studio anytime. The director's respect for his mother is legendary. There are other things the industry wallahs have had to teach themselves about Rahman — that they have to wait for their prayers to be answered. As one producer put it, "Working with him is like undergoing pregnancy. Initially, you feel like being on top of the world. But with each passing day, you start hating the troubles which come with it. Nine months after, when you hold the bundle of joy, you know its worth the effort. That's Rahman's music."

Our President Abdul Kalam about A.R.Rahman in his book

"A.R. RAHMAN may be a Muslim but his voice echoes in the soul of all Indians, of whatever faith, when he sings Vande Mataram. The greatest danger to our sense of unity and our sense of purpose comes from those ideologists who seek to divide the people. It is when we accept India in all its splendid glory that, with a shared past as a base, we can look forward to a shared future of peace and prosperity, of creation and abundance. Our past is there with us forever. It has to be nurtured in good faith, not destroyed in exercises of political one-upmanship. The developed India will not be a nation of cities. It will be a network of prosperous villages empowered by telemedicine, tele education and e-commerce. The new India will emerge out of t combination of biotechnology, biosciences and agriculture sciences and industrial development. The political leaders would be working with the zeal born of the knowledge that the nation is bigger than individual interests and political parties. The most important and urgent task before our leadership is to get all the forces for constructive change together and deploy them in a mission mode. India is a country of one billion people with numerous religions and communities. It offers a wide spectrum of ideologies, besides its geographic diversity. This is our greatest strength. However, fragmented thinking, compartmentalized planning and isolated efforts are not yielding results. The people have to come together to create a harmonious India."

He is a great music composer. It is always a pleasure to work with him. Quite typical to New , he has come out with six scintillating numbers for Ah Aah . He is an ocean and directors have to swim deep to get what they want.

"In Rahman I met someone who I believe could carry the torch of musical theatre into a new dimension," said Lord Lloyd-Webber. "His music might give musical theatre in London the shot in the arm it needs at the moment."
