||Ever since Kaun Banega Crorepati set that benchmark for Indian television's gameshow genre, any other later entrant of the genre had been victim to an identity crisis. Watching the latest of the lot - Zee TV's Kam Ya Zyaada (KYZ), one gets the unmistakable feel of an Amitabh aura surrounding the show.|
Anchor Manoj Bajpai gives a distinct feeling that he is the latest graduate out of the Amitabh School of Anchoring. It is not yet clear whether Bajpai had been given this brief to imitate Big B as much as he could. And it is not just his actions, even the voice modulations and script have an Amitabh hidden in them.
It is pretty bad to start the review of one of the much-awaited gameshows with such a negative observation. But first things come first. Now moving on to the content part, Zee TV can heave a sigh of relief. The first impression is that, the game show has got the potential to keep the viewers glued.
The feeling that the Indian adaptation of the popular Zodiak format Gimme Five may work in the Indian television environment is based on the show's impressive suspense factor. It is a high stake game where even a solidly-placed contestant may get knocked out anytime.
