Indira's dress is more of kurti-patiala and less of traditional salwar-kameez, and now-a-days many many women wear it. Not so much with patiala, but sure a lot with churidar/leggings. Dupattas are merely an accessory now. If you are surprised with Indira's attire, you should see Shipra-Priya's mom in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. She also wears kurti and churidar at her age. There is nothing wrong with it.

Plus, biggest relief is no dupatta means no dupatta flying/falling on hero's head/getting stuck in hero's shirt button or wrist watch. Just for this one reason itself, Indira should not wear dupatta LOL.

Well, the actual...thing is that a suit without dupatta looks quite professional...for them who r not too much comfortable in jeans or normal office attire...even i prefer to wear suits without duppata...Embarrassed& i like it...firstly bcoz it is in trend & in fashion now...secondly...bcoz...carrying a duppata while giving presentations & interviews is a hassle...EmbarrassedEmbarrassedEmbarrassed& wen u talk abt duppata being a sign of modesty...etc...etc...well, ya still sum people believe that.Ouch...but it is now only limited upto a few numbered people who r orthodox & too old fashiond...& do not give much freedom 2 their girlsEmbarrassedEmbarrassedEmbarrassed...Otherwise...people r increasingly wearing short kurtis like patialas without duppatas...EmbarrassedEmbarrassed

well here i wanna say that Rati has done full justice to the attire which has been given to her by designers. she is very well carrying that kameez-patiala with utmost modesty and dignity.
