Years ago,growing up in Alwar,Diwali meant a week long celebration which began with Dhanteras,followed by Diwali Govardhan puja and also bhaiduj.On the day of Dhanteras,my mom and dad usually bought some gold silver as a token of good luck.Mom used to make sweets and a variety of namkeens at home.We also exchanged plates full of goodies with the neighbours.Even today,I enjoy this festival and ensure that either my family comes to Mumbai or I go to my hometown for Diwali.This year,I will be in Alwar for Diwali.
