Life OK, Sony are the biggest gainers of TAM wk19
Indiantelevision.com Team
(16 May 2013 7:32 pm)

MUMBAI: All's Ok with Life OK and Sony Entertainment Television (SET) in week 19 of the TAM ratings report. The two channels are the biggest gainers in the ramped up digital universe that TAM isnow reporting on from 5 May. TAM data (for Hindi speaking market including five new LC1 markets, C&S, 4+) sourced from a channel, shows Life OK added 21 GRPs this week to close the week with 123 GRPs (102 GRPs last week) and the No 6 slot. Life OK's mythological drama Devon Ke Dev..Mahadev added some points to register 1.8 TVR (1.5 last week). Its crime-based show Hum Ne Li Hai...Shapath showed rapid improvement with 1.4 TVR (0.8 last week).

SET, the other major gainer, continued its upward journey this week too by adding 12 GRPs to its last week tally taking it to 166 GRPs and the third spot among GECs. SET scored on the back of its crime-based properties like CID (2.2 TVR), Crime Patrol (2.0 TVR) and comedy reality show Comedy Circus that registered a 1.5 TVR. Its fiction shows such as Bade Achhe Lagte Hain added eyeballs as they rated 1.6 TVR (1.3 last week). Other fiction shows either stagnated or dipped marginally during the week.

The good news for GECs, however, is that the genre has overall grown by 37 GRPs, taking it to 1,004.

Back to the leader, Star Plus continues to lead the flock with an increase of eight GRPs to 232. The channel's new talent hunt-cum-reality show India's Dancing Superstar notched a 2.6 TVR on its Saturday and Sunday telecast even as fiction shows like Saathiya Saath Nibhana continue to be stable in week 19 with 2.2 TVR. Its chart topper, Diya Aur Baati Hum's ratings, however, declined from 4.0 to 3.8 TVR in the week ended 11 May. Pyaar Ka Dard occupies No 3 position amongst all Hindi fiction shows with 2.9 TVR (2.8 last week).

"We are doing very well in the expanded digital TV universe. But what is more important is that we have seen that our relative share has improved continuously over the last quarter. Though our relative numbers have been low (average of past 13 weeks) but the share of the channel has improved," says Star India vice-president - marketing Nikhil Madhok.

Following Star Plus is Zee TV, that held on to its second spot on the Hindi GEC chart with 174 GRPs (175 last week). Zee TV's top performer was the fiction series Qubool Hai with 2.8 TVR (2.6 last week) followed by Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke that rated 2.7 TVR (3.0 last week). Its reality talent hunt India's Best Dramebaaz'sviewership declined by a huge margin on Saturday to 1.8 TVR (2.4 last week) and on Sunday to 1.6 TVR (1.9 last week).

At fourth spot, is Colors which dropped a point to record GRPs of 165. Its leading fiction series Balika Vadhu notched a 2.8 TVR (2.7 last week) and Madhubala rated a 2.5 TVR (2.4 last week). Sasural Simar Ka ended the week with 2.3 TVR (2.5 TVR last week).

Multi Screen Media's other Hindi GEC Sab maintained status quo with 131 GRPs and was at the No 5 spot. Ditto was the case with Max which is telecasting IPL6 which stayed put at 224 GRPs, while Sahara continued to shed GRPs and dropped to 13 GRPs.

Sony and Colors' race for the third spot continues

By afaqs! news bureau, afaqs!, New Delhi,
May 17, 2013 Section: News Category: Media Publishing

While SET Max remains stable at 224 GRPs, GECs seem to be gaining viewership.

Life OK has been the biggest gainer of the week, owing to the improved performance of its crime-thriller, Shapath, in the current week ended May, 11. The channel had garnered 102 GRPs in Week 18 and has strengthened its score to 123 GRPs in the current week. Mahadev, the channel's flagship mythological property, has entered the most watched programmes list in the current week with 2.5 TVRs, after a Maha-Episode aired on Sunday, May 5.

Interestingly, in the current week's ratings, TAM's digital landscape has increased. Consider this: The ratings for general entertainment channels are mapped on TG: C&S 4+, where C&S means the cable and satellite homes (including both digital and analog homes). With the implementation of DAS Phase 2, the number of digital homes has increased, thereby decreasing the number of analog homes. TAM has updated the universe with this change in the current week (Week 19) beginning May 5 and ending May 11.

As per the TAM data provided by the subscribers, Star Plus continues to rule the roost in Week 19 with 232 GRPs, up from last week's 224 GRPs. Five of the channel's shows have featured in the most watched list. Zee TV, too, has maintained its position in the current week scoring 174 points, marginally down from last week's ratings (175 GRPs). Two of its fiction properties could get listed in the top shows' list.

Crime Patrol
Diya Aur Baati Hum

Sony is back at No. 3, a marginal distance away from its closest competitor, Colors. Sony has scored 166 GRPs, which is 12 points ahead of last week's 154 GRPs. Only Crime Patrol has entered the most watched programmes' list. Colors, despite having featured four of its shows in the top shows' list, has finished at No. 4 in Week 19. The channel has clocked 165 GRPs in the current week.

SAB TV, the sibling channel of Sony TV, has registered 131 GRPs, same as that of last week. Its flagship show, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, is in the list of top showst for a couple of months now.

Lastly, Sahara One is at No. 7 with 13 points.

Diya Aur Baati Hum (4.2 TVRs) of Star Plus has again ranked No. 1 in the list of top shows on Hindi GECs. Zee TV's Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke (3.4 TVRs) stands at the second spot. The third spot is occupied by Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (SAB TV) which clocked 3.3 TVRs, followed by Star Plus' Pyaar Ka Dard Hai with 3.1 TVRs.

At No. 5, India's Dancing Superstar (Star Plus), Qubool Hai (Zee TV) and Balika Vadhu (Colors) share the spot with 3 TVRs. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Madhubala (Star Plus and Colors, respectively) stand next with 2.8 TVRs. Sasural Simar Ka (Colors) is at No. 7 with 2.6 TVRs.

Colors' Uttaran, Star Plus' Saathiya Saath Nibhana, Sony's Crime Patrol and Life OK's Mahadev share the next spot with 2.5 TVRs.

Star Plus, Zee TV gain in week 24 of TAM
Indiantelevision.com Team
(20 June 2013 5:30 pm)

MUMBAI: Star Plus and Zee TV notched the highest gains in week 24 with an additional 12 GRPs and 13 GRPs to take their individual scores to 254 and 193 GRPs respectively, according to the weekly ratings provided by a TV channel. On the other hand, last week's highest gainer Colors shed 17 GRPs taking its total to 181 GRPs at No 3 position.

Sony Entertainment Television followed at the No 4 position with a tally of 151 GRPs. Sab lopped off two GRPs this week taking its tally to 140 GRPs. Life OK which was the next highest gainer last week saw a huge fall, losing 22 GRPs to end the week with 127 GRPs.

Numero uno Star Plus' chart topper Diya Aur Baati Humincreased marginally generating 4.4 TVR (4.1 TVR last week). Unlike last week, Star's fictional series appears to have enraptured viewers this week. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai increased to 3.5 TVR (3.1 TVR last week), Pyaar ka Dard to 3.2 TVR (3.0 TVR last week) followed by Veera at 2.5 TVR (2.1 TVR last week). With several new reality shows on air, the channel's talent hunt-cum-reality show India's Dancing Superstar snipped off some viewers when it rated 1.5 TVR on Saturday and 1.4 TVR on Sunday. On 14 June, Star aired Masterchef grand finale generating 3.7 TVR. It thus, proved to be a fulfilling week for Star Plus.

The new No. 2 Zee TV's new reality show DID Super Moms lost 0.2 points on Saturday and 0.4 points on Sunday generating 2.8 TVR (3.0 TVR) and 3.2 TVR (3.6 TVR) respectively. Its fictional offeringQubool Hai lost 0.1 points taking its tally to 2.8 TVR (2.9 TVR),Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke saw a slight growth to 2.5 TVR (2.3 TVR) whereas, Punar Vivaah fell to 1.1 (1.4 TVR).

The new reality peepshow Connected Hum Tum witnessed a drop to 0.7 TVR (1.1 TVR). What was surprising was the rating that the Hindi feature film ABCD - Any Body Can Dance got -2.7 TVR in the afternoon and 1.5 TVR in the evening on 16 June.

Colors slipped to No. 3 as its popular celebrity dance reality showJhalak Dikhhla Jaa declined this week as it generated a 2.0 TVR on Saturday(2.4 TVR) and 1.9 TVR on Sunday (2.3 TVR). Fiction shows on Colors seem to be dragging. Thus, Balika Vadhuwitnessed a slight drop when it rated 2.6 TVR (2.8 TVR),Madhubala- Ek Ishq Ek Junoon, last week's channel leader, also shed ratings and closed at 2.5 TVR (2.9 TVR). Still, another dailyUttaran, remained relatively stable when it rated 2.3 TVR (2.2 TVR).

Fourth placed, Sony Entertainment Television's long running crime series CID and Crime Patrol managed to stay stable, registering 2.3 TVR and 1.7 TVR respectively. On the other hand, Comedy Circusdropped to 1.1 TVR (1.3 TVR). Its new historical show Maharana Pratap remained stable generating 1.3 TVR. Other fiction shows either held on to their viewership or dipped marginally during the week. Sony's all new Indian Idol Junior (IIJ) saw a huge drop when it rated 1.5 TVR (1.9 TVR) on Saturday and 1.4 TVR (1.9 TVR) on Sunday.

Fifth placed, Sab saw a slight growth from last week. Its fiction show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah continues to be the channel leader with 3.1 TVR (3.0 TVR). Lapataganj (in-laws) rose to 1.3 TVR (0.5 TVR). Other fictional shows witnessed a marginal rise.

Life OK's top series Mahadev saw a drop to 1.6 TVR (2.0 TVR). The new fiction show Do Dil Ek Jaan managed to get 0.5 TVR (0.6 TVR).Hum Ne Li Hai... Shapath dropped down marginally to 0.9 TVR (1.5 TVR).

Finally, Sahara showed some improvement when it rated 19 GRPs (16 GRPs last week), but it still continues to be at the bottom.
In the movie channels genre: Zee Cinema managed to remain stable rating 108 GRPs; Star Gold rose seven points, reporting 106 GRPs (99 last week) and Movies OK was at 51 GRPs (53 last week). On the other hand, Max reported 116 GRPs (110 last week).
