"Nia is my savior on the sets"-Kryste DSouza
I did the regular auditions with
Star Plus and Cinevistaas and they liked me. Actually I had got a hint that I would be doing a show on
Star Plus as the lead when I was doing Kis Desh Mein Hain Mera Dil.
You are playing an out and out positive character of a simple Indian girl. Is it tough?
Frankly speaking the role is not really tough as I had played an Indian girl before. I played the lead in
Kahe Naa Kahe on 9X and the role was that of a simple Indian girl.
How similar are you to Jeevika?
Frankly
speaking there is not much difference between Jeevika and me because
like Jeevika, Krystal also has principles and values and respect for her
family. But at the same time Jeevika is not really outgoing and is
quiet when it comes to taking decisions whereas I give my opinions and
stand for my thoughts and feelings.
You and Nia Sharma seem to have a blast on screen. How is your off screen rapport with Nia?(Laughs)
Well, it's more fun off screen. Literally she is like a sister to me
where we sit together for food and also I was staying with her for two
days when my driver was not well and I could not drive home. I really
feel like an older sister or a mother to her. Touch-wood we have a
beautiful relation now. She is my savior when the male gang pull my legs
as she says 'meri didi ko tang mat karo.' We all four have a blast on
the sets.
You have shot in places like Hrishikesh, Chandigarh and Missouri; how has the experience been?Hrishikesh
is really beautiful with its mind blowing scenery. Frankly speaking,
paap dhoke aaye hain naya paap karne ke lie (laughs). Every morning we
used to get up to beautiful Bhajans and Aarti. It was so serene and
peaceful like heaven. I was actually enjoying the weather there where I
got up every morning amidst fog and mist when it was intense heat here
in Mumbai. We have not shot in Chandigarh yet, I think the shoot will
happen sometime in the future.
Any memorable experience so far?When
we were shooting in Hrishikesh, Neha and I used to take a long walk
after getting out of the show removing all the make up and stuffs. We
just wear goggles and take a long walk just being Krystal and Neha and
indulge in some shopping. Actually every day is a beautiful day for us
where we used to burn the bonfire and have fun.
You are back to Star Plus with a show, but this time as the lead, how do you feel?I feel really happy that I am doing a show again with
Star Plus and I am really honored that they have trusted and taken me in their next show as the lead (laughs).
Were there any preparations done for the role?
Actually
there has been not much preparation being done for the show. The
character is very normal and I did not have to work much on the dialect
also.
How is the experience working with Cinevistaas and Siddharth for the first time?Cinevistaas
is a brilliant production house and I completely love working with
them. They pamper you so much that if you want anything it is there
right in front of you the next moment. Siddharth sir is a gentleman and
he takes care of all of us so well.
How is it working with senior actors like Anju Mahendroo and Seema Kapoor?I was really tensed to work with
Seema Kapoor
because I used to watch her in Hasratein and has pictured her as a
stern and stiff person. But when I started working with her I realized
that I was completely wrong about her. She was really sweet and when we
first met she came to me and said, "Hi Krystal, how are you etc'" Anju
is a rock-star and frankly speaking, she is worse than us kids. Being
with her is so lively.
Was acting something that you always wanted to do?As
a kid my ambition was to become an air-hostess and acting happened by
chance to me. I was in college when Balaji had come there for the
auditions. They wanted a girl to play the female lead in their next show
on 9X,
Kahe Naa Kahe.
Ekta maam has been really very kind to me. I have heard a lot about
this industry being bad, but I have never experienced anything bad till
now and I guess I have been fortunate enough to work with only nice
people.
Has the field been tough on you at any point of time?I
was 17 when I did my first show and since I am from a Roman Catholic
background I did not have much hold of Hindi as we used to speak in
English. It has been really tough for me as for more than a month I was
getting a grip on the language. And that too I had to give a big bhashan
in the show which made it even tougher for me. But today I guess I can
speak better Hindi than anybody who has grown up speaking the language.
What are your expectations from the show? There are high expectations from the show especially because I am doing it on
Star Plus
which is considered as the best channel. We have not really done great
promotion for the show apart from the ones on radio and mostly on the
channel itself. I just hope the show does really well. So far I have got
a good response even from my friends. I have a friend Shama who is very
critical about my work, even she likes the show so much, that she even
watches the repeats.
What would you like to tell your fans on India-Forums?I
would like to say that please watch the show, especially for me
(laughs). I am excited to be a part of the Star Parivaar. I need
blessings of all people and wishes from my fans.
