It may have past the year mark for the national award winning Dabangg but actor and producer Arbaaz Khan has marked the occasion by revealing that he has begun work on the sequel, even completing the first draft.
Arbaaz said while attending the Global Indian Music Awards, "Work on Dabangg 2 is on. We are waiting for Salman (Khan) bhai's dates. We are likely to begin the production in mid-September next year."
During an Eid party attended by the Dabangg team, Salman suggested that they do the sequel sooner than later to which all agreed and director Abhinav Kashyap was briefed on the plan. Sonu Sood, the small town politician who will also have a role in the sequel said, "Salman was the most charged person at his Eid party. We were all in a mood to celebrate. When Salman suggested we do the sequel, we started discussing it very seriously. I can't reveal too many details at the moment. But yes, my character Chedi Singh will have a twin brother in the sequel."
The Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha starrer became the biggest blockbuster in 2010 earning Rs. 145 crore. Not only that but the film won multiple awards all around during the award season.
Despite the roaring appraise that the team has received, producer Arbaaz Khan admits, "There is a little nervousness for sure as the expectations are high but we would definitely be presenting something good and interesting."

Actor Salman Khan is back in town after undergoing a nerve surgery in the US last month and is likely to attend the launch of the fifth season of the reality show Bigg Boss tomorrow.
"He came here last night and will be present tomorrow at the launch of the show at Mehboob studio," a source told PTI.
The actor had left for US on August 29 for a surgery for Trigeminal Neuralgia, a nerve disorder he was suffering from, which was successful. Keeping his commitment to work, Salman will attend the launch of the fifth season of reality show Big Boss along with actor Sanjay Dutt at Mehboob studio tomorrow, the source said.
He is likely to travel to Karjat by weekend where the Bigg Boss house is set up.

'Already working on the script of 'Tere Naam 2'... it will be ready soon,' Kaushik, who is best remembered for his role as Calendar in 'Mr.India', posted on his Twitter page.
'Tere Naam', which was directed by Kaushik, was a remake of the 1999 Tamil film 'Sethu'. It featured Salman as Radhe Mohan, a young boy who falls in love with a girl, but loses his mind when he is attacked by goons and is admitted to an asylum.
Stylish frames over lenses for Big B
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan is fascinated with the hi-tech devices and treatments available for the eye, but he likes his uber cool frames the best because they have 'more character'.
The 69-year-old likes experimenting with different eyewear - on screen as well as off screen.
He tweeted: 'Went for routine eye check up, learnt they have device to surgically put a multifocus lens inside your eye, so you never need glasses. Very rapid technical advances in the field or opthalmic devices... every three months something new makes other equipment obsolete!
'Hey now! Do not jump to conclusions that I am going for laser technology... NOPE! I love my framed lenses... more character!'
No more acting on TV: Tisca
She enjoys an occasional stint on the small screen, but Tisca Chopra doubts she would ever return to acting on the tube.
'Now I have films lined up, so it is kind of hard to act on TV because it needs a lot more time and hours on a daily basis. But I enjoy hosting and judging,' Tisca, who busy playing narrator on Sony TV's 'Prayaschit', told IANS.
She had earlier acted in serials like 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii' and
'Sarrkkar: Risshton Ki Ankahi Kahani'. She even judged STAR News'
'Anchor Hunt'. On the film front, she will be seen in 'Love Breakups Zindagi', which is Dia Mirza and Zayed Khan's debut production.
'It's a line that comes from a favourite song of Prateik...'Ek haseena thi ek deewana tha'. The first three words of the song had already been used as the title of an Urmila Matondkar thriller. The makers of the Prateik starrer decided to use the second part of the 'Karz' song for him,' said a source.
The love story, which was earlier titled 'Prem Katha', is a Hindi remake of Tamil filmmaker Gautham Menon's hit 'Vainnaithaandi Varuvaa'; model-actress Amy Jackson plays the female lead.
Prateik, who has dropped his surname Babbar, was apparently keen that the film's title should be pertinent to his character.
'The original Tamil film was titled 'Vainnaithaandi Varuvaa' which means, 'Will You Cross The Skies & Come?'. Director Menon was thinking of a similar abstract title for the film. In fact, it was to be called 'Prem Katha' in Hindi. But then it was decided that the film should have a zany title to go with Prateik's character,' said the source.
Another factor that played a hand in the film's re-christening was the Salman Khan. After Salman's 'Ek Tha Tiger', it was felt that a title with the hero being extolled in the past tense created a sense of nostalgia and excitement.
Vijay Singh the CEO of Fox STAR Studios, which is producing 'Ek Deewana Tha', confirms the title.
'Work on 'Dabangg 2' in on. We are waiting for Salman (Khan) bhai's dates. We are likely to begin the production in mid-September next year,' Arbaaz said on the sidelines of the Global Indian Music Awards (GIMA) at Kingdom of Dreams late Thursday night.

we would definitely be presenting something good and interesting,' he
New Delhi, Sep 23 Film editor-turned-director Shirish Kunder says he will soon begin film editing classes.
'I will soon be starting a film editing course. Will be teaching myself. Affordable to everyone and super quick,' Kunder posted on Twitter.
'My approach in teaching film editing is not only to promote this art but also to make it available and affordable to everyone,' he added.
The 38-year-old, who is married to choreographer-turned-director Farah Khan, has edited films like 'Main Hoon Na' and 'Om Shanti Om'. His debut directorial movie 'Jaan E Mann' released in 2006, and now he is busy working on his second directorial 'Joker', featuring Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha.
'Andaz Apna Apna' animated version hilarious: Raveena

Shahid glad with 'favourite actor' Hrithik's compliment
After watching the premiere of 'Mausam' in Mumbai Thursday night, Hrithik tweeted: ''Mausam' is a film made from the heart for the heart. @shahidkapoor needs a flaw! perfect combination of strength and sensitivity. Sonam looks ethereal and simply honest! wonderful moments...beautiful journey! Bravo!'
Shahid couldn't have been happier with Hrithik's response.
'@iHrithik you are far too kind @iHrithik...Coming from my favourite actor of this generation means a lot man...Thank you for your generosity,' wrote Shahid, who plays an air force officer in the romance drama directed by his father, veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor.
New Delhi, Sep 26 Preity Zinta international look in the chat show 'Up Close & Personal with PZ' on UTV Stars has fetched applause. Surily Goel, the designer behind the new look, says the bubbly and vivacious actress is always open to suggestions and experimentation.
'We wanted to give her a glamorous, international yet classy and comfortable style so that she can easily move around. You must have seen she moves around a lot in the show.
'We have been sourcing dresses for her from all international houses like Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and many more,' Goel told IANS in an interview from Mumbai. She had also styled Preity's look for the TV show 'Guinness World Records', said Goel.
Goel went for subtle colours because she felt it went well with the loud settings of the set.
'If you would have noticed, the sets are already bright and colourful. So to match her look with the ambiance, we toned town the colour of her clothes. Focus on comfortable silhouettes was always our priority,' she said.
Goel and Preity's friendship dates back to 'Salaam Namaste' and the designer likes the actress' openness to suggestions and experimentations. Preity has been seen sporting fringes, curly hair, poker-straight hair and even a bob cut in movies.
'The best thing about Preity is that she hasn't changed over all these years. She is still a bubbly girl with an excellent sense of humour,' said Goel, who worked as a stylist for the movies 'Blue' and 'Saawariya'.
'She is someone who is always open to suggestions and is keen to experiment with her looks. You will hardly see her making any fashion faux pas. She knows her strengths and her sense of styling is very chic and comfortable,' she added.
In fact Goel started her stint in Bollywood with Preity's 2005 hit romantic comedy 'Salaam Namaste' and followed it with 'Jaan-E-Mann' in 2006. Ever since, the two share a personal rapport that goes beyond Bollywood glitz and glamour.
'The only thing that has changed about her is the body frame. For 'Veer Zara' she had to put on weight, while for 'Salaam Namaste' she had to lose it all to look chic and sexy. And from then onwards she has always looked better,' said Goel, who launched her label - Surily - in 2003.
'We have a personal rapport. I understand her dressing style and everything falls in place after that,' she added.
Of late the Mumbai-based designer has been keeping a low profile and not participating in fashion weeks but is not complaining as her kitty is already full with personal clients and TV assignments.
'If you are good, you will always be busy. And, mind you, getting associated with a Bollywood celebrity is a shorter and quicker route, but at the end of the day it's your work that matters,' she said.
