Pallavi Joshi (on Vivek Agnihotri)

What's the best thing about being married to a filmmaker?
The complete knowledge of each other's work and the nuances of being in the film industry, which includes inflated egos, momentary ups and downs, and erratic timings.

Where did you meet your hubby?
At Brabourne Stadium during a rock show.

Do you worry about your husband falling in love with his leading ladies?
I'm just waiting for him to do that. (laughs) Jokes apart, the thought never occurred to me.

How would you react if you heard a rumour of a link-up with your husband?
I heard some rumours during the making of Chocolate, but it didn't matter, and won't in future.

Are you his critic or fan?
Both, I would say.

Would you tell Vivek which actors to cast in his films?
I would certainly tell him, but it all depends on his perceptions.

Do you give him any creative inputs?
Both of us have worked for television shows and shared the creative process.

Do you go with him on outdoors?
I visit him if I start missing him too much. But with the responsibility of kids and their school, I can't accompany him on all the trips.

Which work of his is your favourite?
His first soap Yeh Kahaan Aa Gaye Hum, which aired on Zee TV.

Your hubby's best qualities.
He is always moving with the times. Be it new technology, ideas, people he can adapt to it very easily.

If you and your husband fought over work what would it be?
We fight over every thing, as we are two different individuals from different backgrounds. And if there's no conflict life gets so boring.

Shefali Shah (on Vipul Shah)

What's the best thing about being married to a filmmaker?
It's always fun to accompany your husband on a recce. Jokes apart, it's nice to be married to someone from the same field. The understanding and maturity comes naturally.

Where did you meet your hubby?
I met him for a serial and then kept bumping on to each other at various spots.

Do you worry about your husband falling in love with his leading ladies?
No, not at all.

How would you react if you heard a rumour of a link-up with your husband?
I wouldn't believe it.

Are you his critic or fan?
I'm critical at the same time I enjoy the work.

Would you tell him which actors to cast in his films?
We talk about various aspects of filmmaking. In fact, we serve as the sounding board for each other. He respects whatever I have to say but the final decision lies with him.

Do you give him any creative input?
Yes I do, but it's his prerogative to put it to use or not.

Do you go with him on outdoors?
Yes, sometimes I do.

Which film of his, is your favourite?
Both Aankhen and Waqt are extremely special.

Your hubby's best qualities.
I think he's the calmest human being I have ever seen. He has solutions to all kinds of problems. He will never let the pressure get on to you. He's extremely caring about fellow-beings, including his spot boys. At the same time he's one of the most enterprising men I have met so far.

If you and your husband fought about work what would it be about? About me expecting more romance and he explaining, 'look we have reached the point where we are settled and don't need to crave for that extra mushiness.'

Kiran Joneja (on Ramesh Sippy)

What's the best thing about being married to a filmmaker?
The creative aspect and interactive quality the relationship has when you are in the same profession, is the best thing.

Where did you meet your hubby?
On the sets of Buniyaad.

Do you worry about your husband falling in love with his leading ladies?
I don't worry about it too much. If it has to happen it will, you can't stop it.
How would you react if you heard a rumour of a link-up with your husband?
It hasn't happened yet. But if that happens, maybe I'll confront him.

Are you his critic or fan?
I'm very critical when something strikes me, however, he's a fantastic maker. I feel the quality and sensitivity in him is very rare and it comes through the films.

Would you tell him which actors to cast in his films?
Yes, and he would consider my suggestions but the ultimate decision lies with him.

Do you give him any creative inputs?
He discusses stories with me and I give him my reactions. In fact, you can say we discuss films when others discuss kids.

Do you go with him on outdoors?
I mostly go along with him but I get bored as I'm not handling anything. I keep waiting for him to get back in the evening so that we can spend some time.

Which film of his is your favourite?
I have three — Sholay, Shakti and Sagar.

Your hubby's best qualities.
He's too good and thinks about others all the time.

If you and your husband fought about work what would it be about?
I find him too understanding about everybody's problems and justifying their gestures.

Fighting with him is like talking to the wall and exhausting yourself at the end of it as he'll hear everything patiently and won't say a word.

Sheeba (on Akashdeep)

What's the best thing about being married to a filmmaker?
Being a part of the same profession, it's easy to understand the professional demands and hazards.

No, I'm far too secure about him.

I can be really critical at times and tell him upfront about my likes and dislikes in a particular film.

Do you tell him which actors to cast in his films?
We do have discussions about casting but he takes the final call.

Do you give him any creative input?
Yes sometimes when he asks me.

Do you go with him on outdoors?
If he is going to an interesting place, I definitely accompany him.

Which film of his is your favourite?

I would ask him straight on his face.

Are you his critic or fan?
I balance both the roles.

Would you tell him which actors to cast in his films?
We do discuss things, irrespective of the fact that whether he puts them to use. However, I give him free advice all the time.

Do you give him any creative input?
Yes.

Do you go with him on outdoors?
I would when I was a newly-married wife. But now he does not travel so much and I keep busy with my stuff.
