After scoring a few chartbusters in Selvaraghavan's last outing Aayirathil Oruvan, G V Prakash once again teams up with the director in Mayakkam Enna to give out some scintillating numbers. The young music director is steadily becoming a force to be reckoned with in the music industry and he reiterates his talent once again in Mayakkam Enna. Over to the songs

Naan Sonnadhum Mazhaivandhucha...
Singers: Naresh Iyer
Lyrics:  Selvaraghavan

G.V. Prakash's composition of the opening track is the perfect blend of modernity and ethnicity and above all it has an urbane touch to the rustically penned earthen song. After delivering many cheery melodious songs, Naresh Iyer has experimented with this new style and it perfectly fits the breezy sophisticated song. The music in the interlude are reminiscent of the 'Aayirathil Oruvan' track, Overall, it is an entertaining effort put forth by the team and it certainly deserves a top place in the charts.

Pirai Thedum...
Singers: Saindhavi & GV Prakash
Lyrics: Dhanush

This lovable melodious duet ushers in innocence and also the hopelessness of the romantic characters. Saindhavi's mellow voice in soft tones is pleasant to the ears and so do the touches of the versatile GV.Prakash that connect well to the spirits of the track. The light musical arrangements of piano and string instruments along with the vibrant lyrics convey the mood of serenity. This song will cater well to the youthful sentiments.

Voda Voda Dhooram Korayala...
Singers:  Dhanush
Lyrics: Selvaraghavan, Dhanush

Down the memory lane, we had 'Unnai Parthapiragu' from 'Thiruda Thirudi'. This is one such song where the dialogue-like-verses are encapsulated in a delightful fun-filled tune. The signature whistle tunes used in the track have a possibility to be downloaded for the mobiles by the college-goers. Dhanush's voice plays out the mock-pain and the comforting musical arrangements add to the youthful appeal of the song.

Ennenna Seidhom Ingae...

Singers:  Harish Raghavendra

After some high spirited numbers, the mood turns suddenly devotional, somber and serious with the track rendered by Harish Raghavendra. G.V. Prakash has given a situational, dramatic composition that adds to the serenity of the mood. Dhanush has penned the song, which is deeply philosophical and explores the complexities of one's spiritual search. A lovely song to purify the disturbed minds and cleanse the demented soul.

Kadhal En Kadhal...

Singers: Dhanush & Selvaraghavan
Lyrics: Dhanush

This track is streamlined well that has melodramatically pitched sound impacts for the booze-induced hero singing. This song again, like few other scores in this album is written and sung by Dhanush. The chorus lyrics 'addida avalai','uthada avalai', 'vidraa avalai' packs a little punch to the otherwise mediocre track.

Mayakkam Enna Theme...

It is an aesthetically profound musical piece,  which shows GV.Prakash's versatility as a composer. The composition is a listening delight with control over delectable orchestrations that is presumed to be an effective background score.

'Mayakkam Enna' is Dhanush mania - all the way!!! Songs 'Naan Sonnadhum Mazhaivandhucha' and 'Pirai Thedum' are thoroughly cherishable songs while 'Vooda Vooda' and 'Kadhal En Kadhal' are pure entertainers.

Verdict: Mayakkam Enna - Intoxicating enough!

Mayakkam Enna Music Review ' Ketka Ketka Kirakkam

At last the thunderous moment has cracked on the Tamil film industry. The combined efforts of Selvaragavan, and Dhanush have been made public with the launch of the audio for Mayakkam Enna movie. The movie comes from the Aum Productions house with Dhanush, Richa Gangopadhyay in the lead roles.

This movie has undergone various shifts right from the beginning as Selvaraghavan was drafting the script for this movie prior to that of Aayirathil Oruvan. Another bit is that he was not sure of finalizing the title until he listened to the song from Vasantha Maaligai for Sivaji Ganesan from the score of the late veteran KV Mahadevan. Now the songs are open to the audience and the scores are moderately tuned to please our emotions. For two songs, Selvaragavan and Dhanush have written the lyrics

Here's the account of the songs which are five excluding the theme tune.

1) Naan Sonnadhum Mazhaivandhucha
Lyrics: Selvaraghavan
Singers: Naresh Iyer

The simple composing of the tune needed the simplest lyrics and it is no wonder that the Selvaragavan making the dictions very colloquial and easy to remember. Being a dialogue creator he has shouldered the overall contribution of the song with this lyrical attempt. GVP has crafted a blend of melody and peppy effect to make the song highly odious while Naresh Iyer has infused a mild melody to the richest orchestration. Of late, Naresh has been refining his voice rendition to that of a classical singer. The bass effect is timely during the second stanza and the intermittent jazz on low notes adds melody . A good kick off to the album indeed.

2) Pirai Thedum
Singers: GV Prakash and Saindhavi

This song closely resembles Vizhiyile Song from GVP's previous album Deiva Thirumagal. However the rendition from the ideal couple, who is on the real life unification. Perhaps, the reality is adduced in the orchestration and the song rendition too. We all know how much melodious will it be when Saindhavi is at her best and this song is no exception, as the lyrics too are much devoted to that of romantic notes. Hope this number will hit the youth and in particular who are on flirtations in their affairs. A notable attempt by GVP in the company of Saindhavi.

3) Voda Voda Dhooram Korayala
Lyrics: Dhanush
Singers: Dhanush

Sounds like a number from an album and Dhanush has voiced his own lyrics for this song. GVP's idea is to focus the instrumentation rather than the non-professional voice of Dhanush. It is not sure whether Dhanush made any insights into this song for penning the lyrics. Seems to fill in the kuttu genre and this song may attract the footloose of the front seaters. This proves to be an experiment with Dhanushs' voice for the future songs.

4) Ennena Seidhom Ingu
Lyrics: Dhanush
Singers: Harish Raghavendra

Much akin to his brother Selvaragavan here Dhanush has entered into the landscapes of song creation. This song refers to the general world beliefs and the words are of precise and concise nature but with much ease. Dhanush attempts to inculcate the thought of loneliness and the selflessness. GVP is on the effect of converting this song into a philosophical note but is not so. The orchestration is normal and average without any remarkable notes to appreciate. The song seems to be clearly inspired from "Kaatrin Mozhi" of Mozhi and "PuthuMalar Thottu Sellum" of Poovellam Un Vaasam.

5) Kadhal En Kadhal
Singers: Dhanush and Selvaraghavan

Many decades ago, there was a song from the combination of Sivaji Ganesan and Balaji which is still a very good number to chew on the tongue ' Pon Onru Kanden Pen Angu Illai ' And much to our surprise this song from the combined voices of Selva and Dhanush recollects that song. The variation in pitch scale for Selva and Dhanush is apparent perhaps to differentiate the rhythmic effect. GVP has tried to make this song a free for all and it is no surprising to note that there are shadows of his uncle genius ARRahman's tune for Mustafa Mustafa. In a way Blood is thicker than water.

6) Mayakkam Enna Theme

On the traditional rendition of theme music or a song for a film, GVP has composed this theme music to fill in the number. We have to wait and watch for what purpose this music is to be employed ' for the title note or for the intermittent scenes.

In all , all the songs are quite fittingly rendered by the voices and GVP has justified the confidence reposed by Selva after the maiden attempt in Aayirathil Oruvan. What makes this album different to that of the AO is the clear classification of lyrics and theme notes unlike in Aayirathil Oruvan where the tunes were of varied notes to suit the theme. However, the album fails to make a deep impact atleast the level of Madarasa Pattinam. If taken into the account of Dhanush individually, this album is on par with GVP's orchestration for Aadukalam. Normally Selvaragavan film songs penetrate much on the youth and this album is slightly gliding to that level.
