God, to me is the existence. Everything, from the universe to my soul... is God in my defination. I'm not going to make any refernce to mythological stuff or any 'supreme power' in my post :)

Indeed creation is most wonderful. We are all separate because we are subject to time and space. But when we go beyond time-space continuum we will become one with the universal. we create our own barriers through our mind and thoughts.

Do you think perhaps it is man who made God and not the other way round ?

Yes, it surely is the man that has made God. There was never a God. Many people want to feel secure, hence they make a God.. to be hopeful. The whole idea of God has a lot to do with human psychology.

Or perhaps we are all characters in a Dream and should wake up the guy who is having all these weird dreams.

LOL ...that's cute :)  but I dont believe that life is a dream.

Apparently there are various level of realities just like what we have here on earth.

We have the old school of traditional beliefs and the modern way of rationalizing and understanding how things function. In Duality there is a "God" but this "God" disappears in Monoism.

It really is subjective...some people believe in Duality, some others dont. It's just a man's perspective. I, however.. believe in Neutral Monoism. Everything is ONE. all matter and the soul can be reduced to one - energy.

So an "Atheist" who believes in himself  is much more closer to the Truth.

Truth is... not an atheist or a theist. It is wrong to think that an atheist believes in himself.. it is a misconception. Very few people believe in themselves :)  Even an atheist believes that there is no God, and believes in the physical and "rationalistic" approach to life. Either way both are believing in something... truth doesnt lie in anything. Truth cannot be known, that is why it has a mysterious beauty.
Yes there are many knowledgable and uninformed types of atheists.
Truth, Goodness, Beauty, Knowledge are all the same. Truth is silence, I believe we have all felt it before.

It is better to believe in something rather than nothing ( I don't mean the Nirvana nothingness). No matter what humanity has to be respected.

It really depends. But it is essential, atleast IMHO, that a man must atleast believe in himself. Most of the times, the reverse happens! Very few people believe in themselves. Anyways, there will come the stage in every man's life or sometime in his re-birth when he will believe in nothing and just enjoy the life. That is when he will attain Nirvana, and THAT is the truth.

Let me put it this way.

If a man believes in himself, he'll defiately believe in the universe in the course of time. After sometime, he realises that he is a nobody, and then, realises he's a part of universe and that he is no one. And when that happens, he just does not think and abandons the litany of believes.. he is just there, thinking and wondering about the God or the "truth" itself looks too neurotic to him. Let me remind you of Buddha's golden line - Aes Dhammo Sanatano. It is as such. (it as in life) THIS is when a man attains Nirvana.

I am reminded of some lines from Rabbi Shergil's song -

Na mein apna naam dharaaya (I am not the name I assume)
Na vich baitthan na vich bhaun (Not in stillness, not in move)

Avval aakhir aao nu jaana (I am the first, I am the last)
Na jkoi dooja hor pehchaana (None other have I ever known)

Bulla, ki jaana mein kaun? (Bulla, to me I am not known)

Oh yes The Punjabi Sufi Saint Bulleh Shah was an unbelievable figure. He is highly respected. May he always guide us.

Everyone in their lives go on collecting litany of believes as they grow. But in the end, there will be no believing. What is one going to get out of believing in physical or mental or anything? Even yourself, really, who are you? Do you have an answer for that? (lets not talk about societal identity) That is why, some people think the universe is whole, absolute. Here universe includes yourself, your soul.

Life is the way it is, universe is the way it is. When a baby is born, he does not know a God, he isnt aware of universe, he does not know anything.. he is just THERE, breathing, laughing, crying when hungry, sleeping. Why do we go on believing this and that when it was originally not within you when you were born? What are we going to get out of believing in ANYTHING for that matter? A man needs to go back to that innocence, and that state where he is free from all believes... this is the truth, in my eyes. (read no-mind state)

Hope I could express what I really wanted to say LOL  thanks to my poor vocabulary >:(

Personally, i still believe in the existence. In the mental, in the physical(matter), in my soul...and as you can read from my lengthy post, I am still so confused and highly uncertain in regard to my beliefs! LOL
Well said dear sis.
Agreed with red. He is one reason i started believing in God LOL

But I'm still learning what's my path towards God

All religion merges and disappears in spirituality and sufism. A sufi is a free soul like Kabir and nothing binds them for they are one with the Almighty.

Not a believer inside the mosque, am I
Nor a pagan disciple of false rites
Not the pure amongst the impure
Neither Moses, nor the Pharoh

Bulleh! to me, I am not known

Not in the holy Vedas, am I
Nor in opium, neither in wine
Not in the drunkard's craze
Niether awake, nor in a sleeping daze

Bulleh! to me, I am not known

In happiness nor in sorrow, am I
Neither clean, nor a filthy mire
Not from water, nor from earth
Neither fire, nor from air, is my birth

Bulleh! to me, I am not known

Not an Arab, nor Lahori
Neither Hindi, nor Nagauri
Hindu, Turk (Muslim), nor Peshawari
Nor do I live in Nadaun

Bulleh! to me, I am not known

Secrets of religion, I have not known
From Adam and Eve, I am not born
I am not the name I assume
Not in stillness, nor on the move

Bulleh! to me, I am not known

I am the first, I am the last
None other, have I ever known
I am the wisest of them all
Bulleh! do I stand alone?

Bulleh! to me, I am not known

See this why I love Sufism
Smile it's taking time but I'm slowly getting there
Sufism has changed my views on life and God
I have peace of mind.
All the great Sufis believed in humanism
There no rule to love and find God
In the end it's between U and God.
Some people get very weirded out because I believe in Baba Nank and the Dalai Lama.
I believe that people should not fear God but love God and the people of God.Regards of views
Sufism has taught me to understand every faith.
Before all this I had a neg views on my own religion Islam
And I understand it more now... We should keep on learning
about our own and other faiths to understand God

BTW when I meant by a some consider Baba Nank as Sufi , I meant there r different views from Sufis on this one.
Very well said, u were right about everything. Finding God is whats makes people a Sufi

I think every religion has its attraction, a sort of a magnetic power that draws us in.
Now let us see the definition of sufi and sufism

"Sufi" is a unique word. "Sufi" is a unique Power. It does not relate to any particular religion. It belongs to all of humanity.

"Sufi" is a clear, pure Essence that has filtered and settled slowly, deep within. It goes beyond the state of mounam (silence), even beyond the station of the mouna guru (the silent guru within us). It is that State of Stillness when the Resplendence of the Pure Clarity of Wisdom has sunk down and settled completely within its ultimate Completeness and Perfection. "Sufi" reveals the nature of the final state of the receding of that Perfection, when it has settled down slowly to its ultimate Stillness. "

La illaha
Nothing other than God Exists.

Il Allahu
You alone are God.

This is Sufi. This is the Word of God.

Indeed in higher stages of spirituality the little ego merges in the universal. Religion is only a guide to reach the ultimate.

To experience the ultimate our body and the nervous system must be ready for it; the current that flows can damage our system unless it is ready to withstand the force.

Ur going in to the personal effects, in which everyone is different.
I was talking about what Sufis see and want( everyone feels that diferent ) and yes this can be harmful We cannot consider ourself God
We only want to see him or experience God
Ur right every faith has this power that some truly understand but not everyone.

Well anything that is expressed in words will fall short of the Truth. Everyone interprets God in different ways and no one is right and no one is wrong; but everything falls short of the Truth. Our capacity is our own limitation. Some say God can never be known and some say knowledge comes in a flash. But I do know that God is watching all the time.

As to Sufism I was only trying to get a quote from a real Sufi Master.
