Countdown to the Golden Globes!
Our own MARY HART, MARK STEINES and the whole ET team will bring you all the stars, styles, arrivals, interviews and other exclusive moments of the biggest star party of the year as we count down to the 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards. Do not miss Monday night's ET for the show before the show!
A bunch of new presenters have been added to Monday's celebration, including DREW BARRYMORE, the pregnant GWYNETH PALTROW, RENE ZELLWEGER and ERIC BANA.
The stars join previously-announced presenters that include JESSICA ALBA, MARIAH CAREY, LEONARDO DiCAPRIO, CLINT EASTWOOD, HARRISON FORD, JAMIE FOXX, QUEEN LATIFAH, TOBEY MAGUIRE, WILLIAM PETERSEN, NATALIE PORTMAN, CHRIS ROCK, NICOLLETTE SHERIDAN, HILARY SWANK, JOHN TRAVOLTA and DENZEL WASHINGTON.
Perhaps more importantly (depending on whom you speak to), we have what's on this year's menu for the gala ceremony! The first course consists of crisp green papaya and Asian pear salad with Indochina-spiced jumbo shrimp and mild chili-lime-cilantro dressing. Chefs are busy preparing the main course of sauted fillet of Chilean sea bass with shiitake mushroom la creme and grilled Nioise herb-crusted beef tenderloin with green asparagus, spinach and shallots in pastry and baby carrots and garlic croquette in a light cream of red wine tarragon sauce. Of course, last but not least, there's dessert: a unique Golden Chocolate Globe filled with white chocolate macadamia nut mousse and yellow sponge cake served on a raspberry red carpet!
So what's topping the golden list of nominations? 'Brokeback Mountain,' which earned 7 nominations, including Best Movie Drama and a Best Actor accolade for HEATH LEDGER; and GEORGE CLOONEY, who received a Supporting Actor nomination for 'Syriana' and Best Director nod for 'Good Night, and Good Luck.' EVA LONGORIA, overlooked last year for her work on "Desperate Housewives," joins TERI HATCHER, FELICITY HUFFMAN and MARCIA CROSS as nominees for Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy series.
In the race for Best Motion Picture Drama, ANG LEE's 'Brokeback Mountain' is up against the Clooney-directed 'Good Night, and Good Luck,' the VIGGO MORTENSEN-starrer 'A History of Violence,' WOODY ALLEN's 'Match Point' and 'The Constant Gardener.'
Best Actor Drama kudos went to RUSSELL CROWE ('Cinderella Man'), TERRENCE HOWARD ('Hustle and Flow'), Heath Ledger, PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN for 'Capote' and DAVID STRATHAIRN for 'Good Night, and Good Luck.'
Best Actress nominees for a Motion Picture Drama include Oscar winners CHARLIZE THERON for 'North Country' and GWYNETH PALTROW for 'Proof,' as well as 'A History of Violence' actress MARIA BELLO, ZIYI ZHANG for 'Memoirs of a Geisha' and Felicity Huffman for 'Transamerica.'
The Motion Picture Comedy/Musical contenders are 'Mrs. Henderson Presents,' the JOHNNY CASH bio-flick 'Walk the Line,' 'Pride and Prejudice,' Broadway's 'The Producers' and 'The Squid and the Whale.'
Actresses honored in the Comedy/Musical category are REESE WITHERSPOON for her portrayal of JUNE CARTER in 'Walk the Line,' LAURA LINNEY of 'The Squid and the Whale,' SARAH JESSICA PARKER of 'The Family Stone,' 'Pride and Prejudice' actress KEIRA KNIGHTLEY and JUDI DENCH for 'Mrs. Henderson Presents.'
Six actors landed nominations in the same category, including JOAQUIN PHOENIX of 'Walk the Line,' NATHAN LANE for his role in 'The Producers,' PIERCE BROSNAN in 'The Matador,' 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' star JOHNNY DEPP and JEFF DANIELS of 'The Squid and the Whale.'
In the TV arena, Best Comedy Series nods went to "Curb Your Enthusiasm," "Desperate Housewives," "Entourage," "Everybody Hates Chris," "My Name is Earl," and the Showtime hit "Weeds." Best TV Dramas included "Commander in Chief," "Grey's Anatomy," "Lost," "Prison Break" and HBO's "Rome."
The list was culled from 196 feature films, 139 television series, 49 mini-series or telefilms and 60 foreign language films, according to PHILIP BERK, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. In addition, 96 songs are eligible for the Golden Globe for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture. The award for the best in film and television is voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
This year's CECIL B. DeMILLE Award, for outstanding contribution to entertainment, will be bestowed on six-time Golden Globe nominee ANTHONY HOPKINS.
In keeping with the tradition 16-year-old DAKOTA JOHNSON, daughter of Golden Globe winners MELANIE GRIFFITH and DON JOHNSON, will be this year's Miss Golden Globe, handing the statuettes to the presenters. She is the first daughter of a former Miss Golden Globe to be given the honor.
