Prostitution is LEGAL or ILLEGAL?? (Page 4)

First goal for all movie makers will certainly be money making then comes social service.If they want to make social service without any interest in money there are lot many services to choose.They wont go for producing...In Julie,they never showed her sufferings.There are many prostitutes in real life too who enjoys their profession.

It is a mind set that we all have that they suffer a lot.But there are people who fight for their rights.They thinks  their profession is good as compared to others.....what do you say to those people.

i respect your views and have immense regards for what you write, but i am not very sure about any trade worker enjoying this sinful trade in real life, yes i agree it is the mindset that makes all the difference and it is only because of some good and righteous people that the society is surviving and will always do, i believe not many people will associate positive of good with this trade for it has traditionally being treated as unacceptable.

I had seen some pros on the streets wandering here and there in search of a guy.Their activities will be horrible.We cant say that all humans are good at nature some leakages will be there.
Ok 95% women in brothels dont like to do this business but atleast 5% enjoys it.We can save those 95% and give license to this 5% in that way no one get affected..Govt should take special care to protect women who are forcibly brought in to this profession.

They should give proper counselling to those women voluntarily coming to this profession.If money is their only criteria Govt should give them proper job and financial help.For this they can impose heavy tax on the brothel owners and make use of this money to help this poor women.

I think the post was abt is prostitution legal or illegal - but I found almost evreyone here wrote and commented abt women prostitution. Male prostitution exists too. In some countries they are known as prostitutes, in some places they are knwon as rent boys and some regions call them as escrots. But am surprised to see that none of us discussed about male prostitutes here. So do most of us think prostituion is a trade for women only. If we think so then its not, may be they are the majority in this trade but men are not far behind and in some of the more well-developed countries number of male prostitutes are higher than that of female ones. This may be a bit off topic but as i found majority of us have only "women" in mind on discussing protitution i felt its necessary to post my thoughts on this. And abt prostituion (male or female) being legalized I totally agree with what mad-cap said.

Madhu,Even i had read a magazine about this male prostitution and these guys have their own explanation for themselves.But i dont think there is any need to legalize this male's.

Regarding you stating about quality, I wrote about the content.

I was talking about her role in the movie; there was no mention outside the movie "Julie".

Regarding intentions, well everything that we do has an objective and I stated what I felt, even now I am writing this reply with an objective of conveying my views to you, trust you also had some objective while making a reference to the movie and also in giving your views to me and others, so I believe intentions are important, whether my analysis of intentions of the movie is matching with your views or not is a different issue altogether.

Yes indeed the thoughts are important and that you liked the dialogues of the movie, but I never put my views on the dialogues of the movie.

Regarding Subhash Jha quote, as the saying goes, I believe, a man is literally what he thinks and also we become what we think about.

Regarding dialogue very honestly I have not seen the movie, so I would not be in a position to attack or defend, hence it also difficult for me to device for something which is unknown.

Thanks for the advice for I believe many receive advice, only the wise profit by it, though I would say that I have profited from everyone's advice, I am far from calling or thinking myself as wise for if I do, then I will no more get any advice.

Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate; I agree with you, I believe the only benefit that one can get from the legalization would be the people in the trade, for there would be less exploitation, for there would rule book that will take care of them.

Well, I have been reading this post since long and am not sure whether to get it legalized or not. I still can't decide about it. As some other memebers mentioned my knowledge about this subject is also limited to movies. I saw this movie "Born into Brothels" by Ross Kauffman and Zana Briski about Calcutta's red light area kids and it was just painful. The way they are treated by their parents, caregivers and the world. They want to become something but as they are born in brothels they will live there for ever and be one of them when they grow up. These kids come from disturbed background and they know their mother is in different room doing it and they go in that room to give the customer drink or something. What do you expect from such kids when they grow up? If anyone get chance to see it i would recomend you see taht movie, its more of a documentary. It was indeed heart wrenching. They were not taken in regular school even if they want too just 'coz they come from red light area. Do you think if the prostitution gets legalized probably all schools will enroll such kids?
On the other hand, there are girls who are forced into this and we know about that. Umrao Jaan was another example. There are some women who do get into this for their pleasure, but most of the mass is just forced into this one way or other. If we legalize prostitution even government won't be able to help them out and people forcing them will be proud of what they are doing and it may increase their domination even more.
