Taking a character from a book to the screen is hardly unusual. Making a book out of a television character is rare but not unheard of. But creating a self-help book from a television character, well that certainly is a first. Jassi of 'Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi' has now been immortalized in a book that promises readers a 7-step ride to success. Eager fans crowded in to catch one glimpse of their favorite television star, Jassi. The setting, Crossword Book Store in Mumbai.

The diminutive, bespectacled and soft-spoken secretary, who rose from the ranks to become the CEO of Gulmohar House in the popular soap, 'Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi' had come to release a book. Not just any book, but a self-help book called 'Jassi's 7 Steps to Success'. A collection of Jassi's experiences, the book is brought out by Popular Prakashan. " Jassi is identified by everyone, and a book coming from her about how to get successful is definitely going to be read by a lot of aspirants. We think this book is going to be a hit, as the price is also very reasonable and Jassi's fans will definitely want to read it," says Harsha Bhatkal from Popular Prakashan.

A real-life conflict of the middle class in a materialistic society is what 'Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi' offers. In the past one-year, Jassi's trials and tribulations have become a source not just for entertainment but inspiration for millions of viewers. Her relationship with her boss Armaan Sir, her rise from secretary to the CEO of Gulmohar, the ridicule she faces at the hands of her colleagues and her upcoming and much anticipated transformation from plain Jane to a confident woman, continue to keep viewers hooked to the show. With a stamp to her credit, a clothing line from designer Satya Paul and now a book, Jassi has in a way become a national icon.

Her fans and viewers had been shaping her character all the way and it was time for her to give something back to them. Also seen at the affair, was popular cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle who is an icon in his own right. Sharing the stage with Jassi, Bhogle felt that Indian televison has finally come of age. "It was always the film stars with all the endorsement, books, limelight. But with Jassi, the Indian television is certainly changing. She is as popular as any other film star. And its a new beginning," says Harsha. 'Jassi's 7 steps to Success' is available in both Hindi and English in bookstores across India for Rs 125. However for the young fans of Jassi, there is also a set of three coloring books, where children can paint their favorite characters. One sure wonders what more does the small screen heroines have in store.
