well fabregas has been left out of the squad for today's match against newcastle so obviously the transfer will be going ahead. Xaxi is not THAT old, 31 is not old for a footballer anymore LOL

. and anyway those 'responsibilities' for the midfield he shares with Iniesta now anyway so wheres Fabregas gonna play? top jokes LOL

all easy saying Barca were stretched, they have all these 'upcoming' players who they can use - Thiago and Affellay and they still won the title by 4 points in a league where there are only 2 teams always fighting for the title LOL

Spanish League is just too easy, not competitive enough like the Premier League.

I totally agree on la liga not being competitive enough. Specially for the two teams, Barca and Madrid. It's as if there is the whole Spanish league and then there are these two teams.

We will see where Cesc plays once he gets to Barcelona. There has been so many speculation regarding this matter, many have claimed he will sit on the bench, when both Xavi and Guardiola have come out and said there are enough games for both of them. The only reason Xavi played all the time despite having tendon issues is because Guardiola didn't have any proper sub for him. Last season was definitely crazy. It wasn't that every week they faced a tough team, it's just there were those 1 or 2 weeks when all important matches were right after another and there was no time to rest. Xavi even had to wait to get his surgery last season. Most people assume he has 1-2 more seasons left, of course he could have more than that. As great as our youngsters are Guardiola takes his time breaking them in to the first team. He doesn't trust them easily. Busquets and Pedro got lucky, look at Bojan. Just few seasons ago he was suppose to be Barca's star and now he has been shipped to another club. We also sent Jeffren away. Thiago was almost shipped out too. Super cup is in one day and Xavi is barely ready to face them. As good as Thiago is, he is still not Cesc. Having Cesc lets Guardiola try out new things. They honestly believe Barca's quality will improve by having Cesc in the team. In order to retain their #1 position I think Barca would need a deep bench filled with great players.

That's just the way I see it. Cesc possibly can't be that stupid to leave Captaincy at a great club to be a bench warmer at another if he wasn't sure that there would be playing time. It is true though, he will no longer be the team's #1 midfielder. And I am sure he knew what he was losing.

This whole issue is like football fairytale to me to be honest, so I apologize if my opinion sounds highly biased. LOL

I just want to see him come back and play for his home team. See him with his brothers again, see him play for the man who he idolizes. I would really love to see him wear the jersey he has cherished all his life, Guardiola's #4 which he gave to the little boy who was meant to be Barca's #4 someday. Of course I only feel this way because Cesc wants this. I doubt I would feel this way if Cesc didn't want to come back to Barcelona.

If I wasn't this biased I would say what the hell, we don't need to invest in Cesc when we are broke, what we need is a quality defender. Both Pique and Puyol are injured at the moment. With all these injuries and Cesc's transfer issues they don't seem to be ready for Madrid tomorrow. I am really glad the saga is over though. All parties did a terrible job handling this situation. I never want to see something like this again, at least not with my favorite team and favorite player.

@ Perfangel5655 - I see it the same way, but I'm slightly worried about Thiago and how Cesc's arrival would impact his growth.

About defenders .. it's hard for most of the defenders to adapt to our system and play high up the pitch with maximum concentration (AND passing). Fontas' is promoted to the first team this season and Montoya, Muniesa and Sergi Gomez look promising. Also, Grimaldo (15, left back) was awesome against Espanyol - one for the future. ;p

WTH did just happen? Gervinho sent off - Barton is a DISGRACE!

^ easier said than done...LOL UEFA are corrupt we get Barca when we don't want them.

Arsenal weren't any good today anyway, haven't even got high hopes for this season LOL

Unlikely that Barca will be stretched this season then, Mascherano, Busquets, Xavi, Fabregas, Iniesta, Messi, Villa, Pedro, Sanchez will be your midfield/attack. LOL

Wages shooting through the roof, no wonder Barca are in debt yet offloading players so they can afford players. LOL

decent bench even if players are injured.

Barca are benefitting from Wenger's coaching of Fabregas over the 8 years. You let Fabregas go when he was 16, at the time when the club obviously thought he wasn't good enough LOL

He obviously is stupid, Wenger made him Arsenal captain at 21, what did Fabregas ever repay Wenger with? NOTHING. I hope for Fabregas' sake he is man enough to thank Wenger for making him the player he is today. The reason why Fabregas was a winner for Euro 2008 and the World Cup last year is due to Wenger and his managerial skills.

Definetely not a fairytale. Barca have been bullying Arsenal for 2 years, shameful tactics on Barca's behalf. Publicly saying they have offered so and so amount for Fabregas is tapping up of a player who insisted he wasn't going anywhere until the end of last season. Even Barca players like Puyol and Pique were tweeting 'he's home' etc how unprofessional is that, I get that you're happy and good friends but as a fellow professional and respect to Arsenal they shouldn't be saying anything like that until the deal is CONFIRMED. Shows what kinda team Barca are really, tap up a player and then act innocent LOL

just like their diving LOL

Barca and Fabregas are the guilty parties, both of them bullied Arsenal into submission. And I thought Barca were a team with class, well obviously NOT. You can't blame Arsenal - they never wanted Fabregas to leave anyway, put so much faith in him and he never said a word about his future this summer. Good luck to Cesc at Barca LOL

I don't know what to say to you other than I am sorry. I agree for most part. Arsenal definitely doesn't deserve this, and Barca has handled this situation in the worst possible way.

Pique and Puyol are trolls. So not much to say about them either. If they could forcefully put a Barca jersey on Cesc at a world stage, jokingly steal Cesc's pic while training in Arsenal's ground and post the pics of it, leaking the news early through twitter is least bit surprising. Absolutely no excuse for them. They forget that even if Cesc is their best friend, Arsenal is not, and it will insult Arsenal.

Absolutely agree with you, never mind whats done is done.

Cesc should be revealed as a Barca player in a few hours as long as he passes a medical :). Good luck to him, I guess he will end his career at Barca too? Would make sense.
