Part 1:
It was the hustle bustle of the people in the Mumbai trains that pulled Nupur out of her day dreaming as they pushed her left, right and center. She stared back at one or two in order to let them know of their unmannerly takes at the crowd-y trains but they seemed uncaring, unmoved and undisturbed by her glances and kept murmuring among themselves. Nupur shaked her head in dis-appointment as she got another push from someone who also informed her of the station nearing soon where needed to get down herself too. She tried to take care that she was near the door, enough, so as to get down when she was required to, but what took her by surprise was the fact that people literally drowned her out of the train and she was now right there, standing on the platform desired, even before she had made any attempt to get down by herself. Smiling to herself on the thought that - how amazingly amazing things she needed to learn now in this new city Mumbai, she headed to continue her journey ahead.
------------------------------------------------------------
As usual he was on time for his office. It was a bright, sunny day after a few consecutive downpour days and a very usual morning for Mayank Sharma in respect to his routines. He walked off towards the station which was on the way to his office. He had walked almost 15 minutes from his home to this station and now he was standing in the line for 'Sharing Auto Rickshaw' outside the station. Sharing Auto Rickshaw was a usual practice in the city where the local fares went on increasing as much as people increased. It was to be another 15 minutes ride on the rickshaw for him to reach his first love - his work.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Nupur came out of the station and was amazed at the big queue and tried calculating the wait she was supposed to do, for the ride to her office on the very first day. She asked a random person whether today was something special that brought so many people in the line where she stood, but later gave a dis-approved smile to him when he denied her assumption.
She saw one or 2 people move away from the line for the reasons best known to them and she moved ahead in the line where she got her chance to get one auto finally, she sighed and sat in the auto quickly.
As soon as she got in, the first thing she encountered was a pair of eyes - hazel brown, not very large but effective still, seemingly truthful and deep. Those eyes belonged to a guy who looked smart in formal clothes - a properly ironed white shirt and a black trouser. He was smart and very handsome and from what Nupur noticed he looked like an employee at present but surely a would-be Manager or something but definitely someone promising. She wondered how so soon she had noticed all this while she made herself comfortable beside him. She related herself to how inspiring and progressive he seemed and how it meant sort of an inspiration to her, since she was here in this new place to claim her dreams in high aspirations.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Mayank was as usual waiting for the third passenger to take their seat so that the auto started quick enough to let him reach where he wanted to because he had a deadline to meet today. As he waited, he saw a girl who was taking her seat beside him and scrutinizing him through her eyes, asking for an entry in his eyes with her dove shaped black eyes.
She was a beautiful girl with a natural smile on her face which did not want to leave her face even when she did not exactly smile. He wondered how often 1 must be smiling to be so lucky. He concentrated on the road ahead over the shoulder of the auto driver, once he realised that he was uncharacteristically not being himself and taking too much interest in her appearance without any specific reason, not to mention how he liked her choice of an elegant Red Salwar Kameez which graced her looks even more. He blamed her instigating eyes on him initially to have made him consider the person beside him, though it generally hardly bothered him if anyone did so.
-------------------------------------------------
After Mayank and Nupur had almost reached their destination, Nupur called out to the man driving, "Bhaiya, please left mein le lena...mujhe wahin utarna hai..."
Mayank interrupted, "Dekhiye, autos hamesha yahi raasta leti hain generally...woh out of the way ho jaayega..."
Mayank was now surprised at how naturally her natural smile had vanished when she started speaking matter-of-factly, "Par mujhe wahaan jaana hai...aur yeh signal hai...agar main yahaan ruk gayi toh mujhe kal ki tarah 5 minute tak signal ka wait karna padega..."where she got irritated yesterday while she had come for the interview and also, now she didn't like the way he spoke to her.
Mayank closed his eyes to calmly answer her hyper way of presenting an excuse when he said, "Dekhiye Miss, mujhe late ho jaayega..."
Nupur reverted back in the same expression of his with an only difference that she faked it and made it obvious too, "Dekhiye Mr, mujhe already 1 ghanta late ho chuka hai...aapko isse jyaada toh late nahi ho raha na?"
Mayank gave in without saying a word and just indicated to rickshaw driver to have a go at her plan, when she sighed as if finally she had won after a long quarrel and Mayank prayed that may she never again share an auto with him. As they reached, Mayank noticed it was where he knew someone else worked too, someone very dear to him .
Nupur, after giving the fare Nupur looked at Mayank expecting not to see a grudge on his face even now but when she failed and saw him concentrating on his watch, she walked off angrily at how people around were being so un-helpful to her and she was now a bit nervous to be so late at her 1st day at her new office.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Mayank reached almost on time even today, but somewhere he still had a feeling as if things did not go totally usual for him and it had been 1 hectic morning to start with.
