I should go ahead and point out right from the start that I haven't yet seen any episodes of BALH. Which in and of itself should be a testament to how disappointed I am because I had high hopes from the show. I agree with the topic starter's claim about this being an Ekta show and therefore not really being any DIFFERENT than her other shows, spare a couple of minor details like "age" and a handful of "character traits".. Instead of being an over-confident/hate-the-world businessman with the body of gym trainer and a love-the-world/"morals wali" girl who's absolutely petite, we get an older couple who look maybe a little bit more like regular people and MAYBE try to exhibit one or two of the regular-people-traits. I get that I should have been expecting this regurgitated story from the Balaji house, but I do not get why I can't expect anything more?
I know this is Ekta - this is her way of story telling and her used and abused tricks/twists. Toh I get that I should be used to it.. But I don't get why it should make them okay - why any criticism against those annoying and absolutely FRUSTRATING twists/character traits (Seriously?! Priya running around looking for a chindi sa bracelet is supposed to be something to look up to and not be frustrated by?) is considered "negative"..? It can be criticism and it can be constructive..
I had high hopes from the show - I expected a DIFFERENT story (as it was touted by Ekta jee herself) in the entire sense of the word. Which meant I expected a DIFFERENT story per Ekta's standards too. And I don't think I can be placated by an "older" couple doing the same shenanigans as her numerous past jodis, simply because they are "old".. That doesn't make them different - they need to ACT old too, act more mature, more experienced and more refined.
I like RK and I like ST - I like them together and I was really hoping for a BETTER show. And the fact that this is a Balaji production doesn't make my disappointment any less irrelevant.
Also, I would like to state that in my opinion, for the most part every show can be judged with in the first two episodes. Because that's when they're supposed to do their best to hook viewers, so really what they show in the first couple of episodes is usually the more "focused" and "refined" part of a show - ESPECIALLY a Balaji show (we all know how "good" a Balaji show gets as we get further into the show..
) . So really, in all honesty, I do not think that this show can get any "better" with time. We might get used to it with time and learn to appreciate the smaller things while ignoring the more obscene bloopers/tracks/characters. But really, this IS the best this show is getting. *shrugs*
