I think this is an interest research and India should do some research on it. So, we can have a new ActLOL.

Hindu/ Indian Culture does not allow such ill-treatment of widows. It is some orthodox people who do such sort of things to women.

According to an article in the Indian Constitution; A widow has full rights over her husband's land and so does a daughter. They are considered the active citizens now, instead of them being the passive ones.

The earlier times supported such treatments, but somehow, nowadays people give it a name of tradition and religions to treat women like garbage.

Ironically, some widows themselves support the society in such kind of practices against their daughter-in-laws etc. They use rigid methods and send them off to Ashrams, and sometimes keep them in home and make it a jail for them.

They sometimes even abandon them.. That is a disgusting thing.

This is the scenario of our current Indian Society. The sole reason is illiteracy rates which are flowing to the tops.

Government also has taken steps for women education even when they are adults, but some stereotypical families don't let the same happen!

I am not an Indian and usually I watch Indian films and documentaries regarding India. Most of the documentaries project Indian culture in a negative way when it comes to a life of widow. If it is not true, then why Indian authorities never sue those documentaries?

You are right. But this fact is still true in the remotest areas of India. Abolishing such activities is taking much more time than intended. People are not ready to face the fact. The just crib about it, make it a dinning table discussion, eat and then sleep peacefully! No such volunteers have come up with great support!

See what happens in countries like Malaysia.
Abuse of women, it is often the case in Malays , the poorer ones in Malaysia. The Chinese and Indians do not have such cases.

Stepfather makes teen his 'sex slave'

A FIFTEEN-year-old teenage girl ran away from home after her stepfather made her his 'sex slave' and sexually abused her at least 11 times, reported Harian Metro.

Her mother was aware of the abuse, yet remained silent. A source told the daily that the victim had on numerous occasions complained to her mother but her pleas went unheeded.

'The victim's mother advised her to put up with it so her husband wouldn't leave her,' he said, adding that the couple had been married for about three months.

He said the man became bolder after realising his wife would not take any action. The man, in his thirties, then began to approach the victim every time his wife was out of the house.

'Unable to stand the abuses anymore, the victim ran away to her aunt's house in Bangi for protection because she didn't feel safe,' he said.

Accompanied by her aunt, the teenager lodged a report at the Pandan Indah police station in Kuala Lumpur on Monday. Ampang Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Md Nazri Zawawi confirmed receiving the report. -- THE STAR/ANN
