A Matter of Time
The guilt factor is too strong to be erased and so time must run its course.
And we have already seen it in previous incidents.
Sidharth comprehends the predicament of Viren and Nivi well. He rises up to the situation, attempts to solve it in his own way, makes Nivi realise that the 'possessive' trait that she exhibits towards Dwita is causing a rift between Viren and herself. He takes a day off to look after his daughter, manages everything well without allowing Nivi or others a chance to take care of Dwita. The talk he has with his daughter which Nivi overhears makes her realise that she was even robbing of Sidharth's right over the baby. The truth slowly sinks into Nivi that she has no exclusive rights over Dwita's life. Though she is not happy to give up her claims over the baby, it does mitigate her guilt for she realises that Dwita is not a waif. The effect of Sidharth's intervention is really nice.
Dadasaheb's timely advice to Viren helps to narrow down the rift. Viren acts sensible and tries to explain to Nivi that having their own kids will only provide companionship to Dwita. But Nivi is obstinate about relinquishing motherhood despite time and again Viren tries his best to drive sense to her about the practicality of the issue.
Nivi will try for an abortion but someone we hope will make her understand the grossness of the act and she will be deterred from it.
Truth should not be hammered into her mind. The eventual unfolding alone will help to amend their lives. It must run its course, for the guilt factor is too strong.
For instance, when Viren is exposed as the stalker, and also when he disavows Nivi we know that he was not wicked, but was giving vent to his resentment. Viren's intention was to inflict pain on others as retaliation for his aggrieved childhood. (Nivi is shattered for Viren is the only prop in her life. Her basic goodness and her true love for Viren help her cope with the situation.)
Nivi had been used for his ends. Her innocence and vulnerability had been exploited. He had adequate reasons for attempting to tarnish Sidharth's image, but there weren't any for Nivi.
He knows the significance of 'saath phere', and tells Chanchal he has done it with Nivi reminding her of the unbreakable bond between them. But what has he done to it? He knows he has done a sin for which there is no remission.
Had Nivi right away walked out of Viren's life on those occasions, then also he would have made attempts to atone (we know in their heart of hearts they yearn for each other). But it cannot be done by just uttering the too simple words of apology "I'm sorry." He betrayed her trust. Restoring it is no easy task. Viren cannot forgive himself for those demeaning acts of his. It has hurt them so much, and the scars run deep. So it had to run its course before being healed.
Viren knows this. We have similar instances.
Otherwise with his usual joviality he could have applied colours on Nivi during the Holi celebration. It is not only because Nivi moved away from him when he approached her, but Viren himself stood there hesitant for the trust has not been restored. He couldn't hold a heart to heart talk with Nivi earlier and make up for the breach. So also it is not merely because Nivi rejects Viren's help to wear the 'mangal sutra' but he knows well he has no moral right to do it now.
Anyway we can look forward to some emotional drama in the coming episodes when Nivi finally reconciles to the truth, becomes once more the sensible grand-daughter of Nayantara dadi and the pride of the Sood family. But I have apprehensions about Hemalatha for she had been eyeing the Sood wealth, and Chanchal whose aim is never the harmony of the family. It's sad that Chanchal's hand in creating the discord is not exposed.
Let's hope the clouds of misunderstanding and misconception will disappear soon and the moon will emerge in all its glory.
