As a Ex socialist/communist believer,I understand one thing that, socialism and communism is nothing...everybody want power and money...and religion teaching us...heaven there are beautiful girls who always remain fixed for eternity at the age of sixteen, n thy are especially to serve the people who come into paradise...wow... Now, what are the poor people going to do? ...paradise, rivers are not of water but of wine...again... The poor people have never tasted wine...they will die of thirst cos water is not available at all...and politicians are afraid...thy want the world to remain divided into poor and rich...the gurus/priests and other holy ppl want the world to be divided into classes...thy are the powerful people...I strongly feel that power should be in the hands of the best ...only then we can hope something good can come out of it.Smile

Just how do you decide which is the best? One man's best can be other man's worst.

That depend on situation...How a person using his/her power for usefull things!

land for housing would come under "useful thing",  so would land for agriculture. Land is limited and can be awarded to only one party. Here starts the conflict.

Socialism is mostly based on the proletariat to gain ownership over the bourgeoisie, and that all the nation's resources be shifted from the urban areas to the peasants in the countryside, and by everything I mean everything, industrialization, ownership of land, as seen in early Soviet ideology or perhaps even Maoism with the Great Leap Forward etc...

Communism is more of a utopian or a more extreme form of socialism per se, that standardizes income distribution among all citizens, among other things...yes, there are similarities like you said, both believe in private ownership of land...but there certainly are differences. Also, what I have noticed is that communism often digresses to violence & totalitarian regimes, meanwhile socialism is relatively more stable. For example, when India was independent, Nehru himself initiated state-sponsored industrialization(aka socialism) on the country, which was in fact very beneficial for the nation.

Japanese Capitalism:
You have two cows.
You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce
twenty times the milk.
You then create cow cartoon images called Cowkimon and market them World-Wide.

Most economic models are based on perfect market scenarios. Capitalism is based on perfect competition. The flip side is that usually some consumers or suppliers unfairly dominate. Communism is based on perfect distribution is. The flip side is that not everybody works the same, wants or needs the same.

Personally, I feel public and private sectors are necessary in economies.  The public sector fosters infrastructure and stability. The private sector fosters innovation and growth.

A for profit company will not invest in rural infrastructure, community services, health care and education as there is no profit in it. A non-profit or government won't invest in the risks that promote innovation and growth. We need both.

We need governments and public agencies to have oversight over the market to minimize unethical, unfair activity and ensure fair trade and fair compensation. We need restructuring in public sectors to minimize bureaucracy, corruption and promote competency and growth.

I try to be moderate, but I tend to lean left due to my sympathies towards public education and working class causes.

Isn't India still a socialist country? As the Indian politics love to talk about reform but at the same time they like spending more money. The lack of debate over the virtues of wasteful policies is striking in the world's largest democracy.  Aren't all the politician sworn to socialism based on the Indira Gandhi Rule to the 42nd Amendment. Will Indian ever successfully ventured into being a capitalist country?

Yes, India is a capitalist country...you cannot expect a CEO of a company to live in a simple and humble home...He is entitled to live a lavish lifestyleSmile...and We all know that,...No single system is a complete solution to all the peoples problems... Capitalism favours the rich and the smart... Marxism protects the rights of everyone...I think india we need to mix of marxism with capitalist values to solve peoples problems in the long run...
