12 years ago, Padma used to know Maheswari's true nature and would make her quips. Then suddenly Maheswari became a devi and Padma started smiling like a puppet. So she ordered Rohan to follow Badi Ma and marry accordingly despite his resistance. At that time, she wasn't aware that Rohan was her son (memory loss again). She only remembered her daughter Rashmi who had the bigger room in the house.When Dev's marriage proposal came up, she suddenly remembered that Dev is her only son and spoke for him. Then forgot him promptly again when she read Radhika's letter. The shock made her remember Rohan and she spoke for him. But then the suicide attempt by Rohan made her forget all her kids again until the fire happened. Now she remembers that Rohan is her only son and Radhika is responsible for hurting her cutie patuti son. Hence her anger at Radhika. Dev is again forgotton but he is very cultured (sanskari) and follows his mother instinctually.
