Hey Shelly,
Agree with you that most of what they are showing in the Swiss visit is sloppy and hurriedly put together... Without any proper planning...
As regards the Ahem conductor scene... Well, once in Zurich... While getting off the plane... My infant was crying too much... So, it took us a few minutes after everyone had disembarked... 2-3 security guys immediately came and made a thousand queries... Where are you coming from, where are you going, purpose of visit, nationality etc... We said hello... It's just my infant who is crying as you can see... But, they personally escorted us out and checked all our documentation... We were very upset and irked as to how could they treat us thus... We are extensively travelled international folks...
Later, we discussed this with many of our friends... Who all had mostly the same response... In the European countries... They are always fearful of the illegal immigrants and terrorists...so they are ultra cautious... And trust NO ONE... The basic premise being that these people come on bonafide papers/reasons... And then stay back...
Coming back to the point you raised... I think that it would be correct to assume that even the passports would be with Koki if she had the tickets... Generally, one person holds all such documents safely... So, Ahem being scared in this case would be justified... Being a rich businessman from anywhere wouldn't help... They will not believe you and question you endlessly... If they put you in jail... Then, it can affect your record and haunt you for life... Plus, Ahem had important meetings which he would miss...and generally, one would address immigration officers or such as Sir...can't get on their wrong side... In Europe, the trains travel across countries... So, the conductor would be a person with authority...
I could be wrong about the above...
