Hey Shelly,

Agree with you that most of what they are showing in the Swiss visit is sloppy and hurriedly put together... Without any proper planning...

As regards the Ahem conductor scene... Well, once in Zurich... While getting off the plane... My infant was crying too much... So, it took us a few minutes after everyone had disembarked... 2-3 security guys immediately came and made a thousand queries... Where are you coming from, where are you going, purpose of visit, nationality etc... We said hello... It's just my infant who is crying as you can see... But, they personally escorted us out and checked all our documentation... We were very upset and irked as to how could they treat us thus... We are extensively travelled international folks...

Later, we discussed this with many of our friends... Who all had mostly the same response... In the European countries... They are always fearful of the illegal immigrants and terrorists...so they are ultra cautious... And trust NO ONE... The basic premise being that these people come on bonafide papers/reasons... And then stay back...

Coming back to the point you raised... I think that it would be correct to assume that even the passports would be with Koki if she had the tickets... Generally, one person holds all such documents safely... So, Ahem being scared in this case would be justified... Being a rich businessman from anywhere wouldn't help... They will not believe you and question you endlessly... If they put you in jail... Then, it can affect your record and haunt you for life... Plus, Ahem had important meetings which he would miss...and generally, one would address immigration officers or such as Sir...can't get on their wrong side... In Europe, the trains travel across countries... So, the conductor would be a person with authority...

I could be wrong about the above...

Hi Sonal,

I understand what you're saying about your travel experience in Europe.  Things are very different now than what they were like when I did most of my travel pre-kids.   What you're expressing is very good example of a "normal" personal travel experience.  But Aham is not  average traveller...he is the head of Modi industries and his travel experience should be very different from the average person.  Even the fact that the Modis are carrying their own luggage and being escorted by van instead of a chauffeur.

I agree with you there about the manner of travel... Is not befitting such rich people... Also this constant saying "phonecalls are so expensive"... And yelling at Rashi for ordering something of her own choice as "wasteful and expensive"... Was ridiculous...

If I am not mistaken... Calls from India these days are so cheap... I get calls regularly from relatives and friends who talk freely without fear of ISD bills... As I am sure you must be doing too...

Being frugal in their day to day living in the Modi household is ok... But on a holiday... It's cheap...

Totally agree with you there...

The people who watch the serials are middle class and lower. so if the CVs show a life which is too different from their lives, then they wont identify with the serial and the TRPs come down. SNS has struck the TRP gold because they put the typical problems in a salaried/lower income family into a rich family.

Regarding the train conductor business, I have had a few encounters with the security, conductors, police in both France and Germany. I made only two trips and I was stopped by police twice in Germany, once in France and by the conductor in France in TGV. Because I dress very Indian  they assumed all the time that I am less educated and may not be able to communicate properly. From my Tamil looks, they also assume I could be a refugee. So in all the cases I found that acting ignorant created least problems for me and never bothered to correct their impression that I am uneducated. I always try to use the same trick in the US too. So may be Aham did that.

@shelly - Love your latest flower.

Br2499... I will remember that... Acting ignorant can help... Never tried that... We always go the other way around... We try to be ultra polite and speak our finest English...

I;m so glad they actually showed that he was scared..something close to reality i guess...i mean no one stays in one mood or characteristic in thr life..ppl have emotions, and they get nervous even those who are used to commanding others around...i'm so glad that Ahem sort of got scared cuz eh didn;t have a ticket on him
