Chp 10
The horse neighed at pratigya. He didn't like the intruder in his stall. Pratigya in fright lost her balance and fell on the ground. The hay lying on the floor stuck to the mud on her body which she had acquired when she paid a visit to the pig sty. Now covered in mud and hay, while being stared on by an irritated horse, was too much for pratigya. The horse now was nuzzling at her shoulder. She threw open her mouth and screamed at the top of her voice. The scream was heard by some of the stable staff and soon rescued from the nuzzling horse, which was quite happy to have his stall to himself and his privacy restored.
Krishna blinked in disbelief. Then clearing his throat he stood up. Pratigya took a step back in fear. Was he going to yell at her or probably hit her? Then suddenly, he burst out laughing. He was laughing at her state. When he had returned from the storeroom, he was caught in the hallway by some of the stable hands. They seemed to have found a intruder in the stables. Soon a dirty pratigya was presented to him; he bit his tongue at first trying not to laugh. After shooing away the stable hands he couldn't contain himself. He had to have a heartily laugh.
K: so you mean to tell me you fell in the pig sty and next got locked up in a horse stall.
P(timidly): yes
K: why were you venturing out in the first place?
P(scared): i…i… *she was afraid to say that she was trying to run*
K(joking): missing henry huh???
P: *blink blink*
K(laughing): go clean up yourself. You are horrible. And ya *serious tone* Stop trying to run away. It won't be funny the next time.
He walked out of the room leaving her bewildered.
Sajjan singh scribbled the walls of his cell as he had nothing better to do. The newspapers were lying in a bundle in one corner. He had got bored of lying here in this filthy jail cell with no news of the outer world except from the newspaper. He wondered why attempts were not being made for his release till now. Answering his question, the jailer unlocked the jail cell and yelled "you are being set free." he stood up with a evil smile.
SS: I knew it.
He stepped out of his high security cell and was soon escorted down and too the jail's door. Seeing the door to his freedom his heart skips a beat. a car was awaiting for him. the president (shamsaxena) himself had come to see everything went well. on seeing the president before him, sajjan singh couldn't contain himself from giving him a broad smile. the president frowned but said nothing. he couldn't afford to insult sajjan singh, his daughter's life lay in his hand afterall. Soon sajjan was seated in his car with his men who on seeing their boss set free managed to do a victory dance. they had had enough of that Krishna guy. He was too soft for their words and more prone to emotions. But their boss, yes he was a true leader. The CBI officers were adamant at following the car, but sham stopped them. Sajjan Singh wasn't a fool to lead them straight to arushi. He would never be so stupid. it would be no use to follow him.
Pratigya looked at herself in the bathroom mirror. she had just cleaned up herself from the mud and hay. She wondered when she would be able to leave. It had been more than a week maybe. She had no idea how much time had passed. When would she be able to go back? Krishna walked in without knocking and before realizing that she was in he had fully entered the washroom. She shrieked and pulled the towel around her neck.
K: what are you shrieking for??? your fully clothed????
P: yes but why did you walk in??
K; the door was open. At least lock it.
P; you should have knocked.
K: okay whatever!!!!...i came to tell you I have good news
P: what???
K: you and arushi are soon going home. Your free.
P(trilled): really???
K: yup….
He smiled and walked out and shut the door. after he left pratigya jumped in joy. She was going home. all this was over. yipeee
Sajjan Singh was so proud to walk once again into his large mansion. he had been handed the tickets as well as lots of travelers cheques. He was going out of the country for a while. he couldn't afford to be caught once again. he had had enough of the jail life and moreover the stale food. he was going to take a long vacation abroad. His flight was in the evening and he had just enough time to do an important thing. he called his driver and soon sped off. tonight after he leaves the country the president's daughter would be released. he couldn't believe that the mastermind behind all this was Krishna. his Krishna.
Krishna was out running a horse. he remembered as a kid his dad use to take him horse riding. Since then he loved horses. He groomed and brushed the fine creature who in turn neighed happily. He was about to climb on the horse and take a quick run in the field behind when he heard a car honking down the lane. he went into action mode immediately. Just one car, if it was the police they would have been a whole flight of them. so who was it? he removed his gun and peeped out of the door. then walked out slowly and made his way to the house where the car had been parked. on the way he tripped over a frightened hen who was running away from her stalker the great henry. brushing the dust off his clothes he stood up whispering "stupid bird". Taking offence the hen clucked rudely then shook her tail feathers and walked away with her head held high. Krishna reached the car and was surprised to recognize it as one of his own. the driver touched his cap to salute then continued to smoke his cigarette. Krishna rushed into the house realizing who has just arrived.
Pratigya's eyes buldged out in shock as she gazed accross the room. When the door had opened she had expected him(krishna) to walk in. She knew she was being released today as he had told her she and arushi ma'am were soon going as whatever his demands were had been fulfilled. but instead before her at the door stood the notorious criminal Sajjan Singh. He too saw her and developed a confused expression. Wondering if the president's daughter was arushi, who was locked in the storeroom then who was she. At that precise moment krishna entered, saying "Dad". pratigya looked shocked. sajjan singh turned and embraced his son in delight.
SS: so happy to see you after such a long time
K: same here dad.
SS: just look at you all grown up and handsome. It was just yesterday that you were running around in your nappies with a thumb in your mouth yelling mummy.
K(blushing): DAD!!!!!!!
SS: ok ok I wont tease you. but tell me whose this girl?
K: her??? long story we had a mix-up. Nothing great. She and arushi both go back. So when your flight??
SS: evening.
K: have a safe journey. I am also packing. Dying to go back, komal's having her child name ceremony this weekend.
SS: komal 's child???
K: yes.
SS: I idnt know she was married. When did all this happen?
K: 2 years ago. She graduated from university and was already in love with some class mate. the rest was history.
SS: oh!!!
P: *gulp*
Sajjan Singh turned and noticed her. then patting his son and congratulating him for the great plan he left. Krishna walked in and opened his cupboard. It was packing time.
P: hes your father???
K: yes
P: hes a criminal
K(angry): I know that. Thank you for the information.
Pratigya just watched him pack everything. the cupboard was soon empty and his bag filled. She sat for the next few hours dreaming of home. on the other side, Krishna himself was dreaming of home. His home.
What followed was that in the next few hours after the plane had left or probably reached its destination. Pratigya and arushi were led out. Both were been sniffed chloroform and fainted before they left. But before she left consciousness she remembered seeing Krishna watching her from the car window. Next she remembered was being in a hospital bed next to arushi with a crying Mrs. Saxena on the chair beside. It seemed that a anonymous tip was received and the police had rushed to the location given. arushi and pratigya both fainted were found in a unlisted car at the outskirts of the city. They were rushed to the hospital but doctors forund nothing wrong except chloroform in their system and as in arushi's case lack of nutrition. Arushi had been still asleep when she awoke. Next few days were like a blur. Everything happened so fast that she couldn't believe it. The president re-signed which led to a nationwide allure. There were newspaper and spokesmen yelling at the bad decision of the president. Some even said that he didn't deserve to lead a nation and it was good he was resigning or he would have been kicked out. The president offered her money for all her troubles and even apologized for everything. One the other end her mother cried endlessly at seeing her safe back home. her 2 younger brothers clutched her afraid she would go away again but her father didn't give a shit. He was too drunk to realize what had happened. All he said was that it was good she was back so now they would have money to buy alcohol.
It was the day the saxena's were leaving delhi. Their flight was in 2 hours and she had come down to the airport to see them off. Arushi had for the past few days throwing fits and creating hell for her. she never knew that one of their maid was also kidnapped. She even accused pratigya of being involved with those horrible men. Pratigya was so happy that arushi ma'am was leaving but sad that the president had to re-sign due to this fiasco. Sham Saxena was a wonderful man compared to the spoilt daughter of his. Even the wife was a gentle woman but only she cried a lot and was a pessimist. As the saxena family walked through the customs and were soon out of sight she turned to go to the exit. She bumped into a man who was hurrying to get in as he was already late for his flight. He was dressed in a long black coat and baggy pants. He had a stubble over his face like he had not shaved in a long time with long hair sticking out of his cap. In short he looked much like a beggar on the street except for the clothes which were of a good quality. his bags fell from his hand and he looked annoyed "can't you see where you walk you……..pratigya????.
