MUMBAI:
Star Plus is set to replace its weekend reality show Wife
Bina Life with Comedy Ka Maha Muqabala.
Starting 19 March, Comedy Ka Maha Muqabala will be aired every
Saturday-Sunday at 9 pm.
The
show will see Raveena Tandon, Arshad Warsi, Shekhar Suman
and Shreyas Talpade as the four captains, who will be performing
with their teams.
This season, each team will comprise well-known television
celebrities, stand-up comedians and a debutant to the industry.
The captains will also double up as judges where they rate
the performance of opposing teams.
Star

Laughter Challenge, Star TV introduced the stand-up comedy
genre to the Indian audience and changed the way we saw comedy
on television. At Star Plus, we have always challenged the
status quo and brought innovative and entertaining formats
for the viewers. Comedy ka Maha Muqabala on Star Plus will
once again bring the biggest names in the comedy genre to
outwit each other in the battle of humour. It will provide
a much needed dose of laughter over the weekends."

Sudesh Lahiri, Parul, Vibha; Arshad Ke Punters: Supriya Pilgaonkar,

Comedy ka Sartaj - Shreyas Talpade!!

Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla
has started off with a bang! Though every team has talented actors and
comedians, there can be only one Amul Comedy ka Sartaj. It's superb that
my team "Shreyas Chi Mandli" was the winner in this week with a remarkable 109 points. |

Temperatures
soared in the second week of the competition, and the applause got
bigger and louder by the hour! All four captians - Shekhar Suman, Arshad
Warsi, Raveena Tandon and I, performed on stage in front of a live
audience to cheer up our teams and prove our mettle as captains of the
highest order.
Our team is thrilled to literally be crowned the king of comedy, a.k.a.
Amul Sartaj of the week. We had two rocking acts - one being Shreyas Chi
Madli ki AAG, and the other revolved around a do or die situation on
the railway track.
The open challenge round was the make or break round. The idea was to
win the bonus 10 points. The stand up act by Raju too, won us brownie
points but with all teams neck to neck, the bonus marks made all the
difference. And "Shreyas Chi Mandli" won! The act that belled the cat - I
mean won us the crown was the one on the railway track.
I played an honest railway guard, who tries to commit suicide on the
tracks. He meets a bandwalla, Raju Srivastav who comes to the tracks to
relive himself. Both start conversing and one thing leads to another.
Through comedy, we sent a message to the audiences that no matter what
adversity, suicide isn't the answer.
Raveena, Shekhar and Arshad loved the act and found the energy
tremendous. I credit this win to team work. While at times the creatives
give us an idea, or even if we come up with one ourselves and get the
writers to work on it, it is the team's contributution which results in
the final version. We try to meet at least twice a week and have endless
phone conversations regarding the plot, theme and even dialogues at
times.
Though I was shooting in Chandigarh, we all ensured that we would
rehearse no matter what. I stayed connected with the team via Skype and
we fine tuned our script, reading and rehearsals. The team would meet in
the studio and I would connect with them via the marvel of
technology. When we finally shot, it worked like magic. Raju's stand up
act too gave us a big boost as he got full marks for his stand up act.
We all shared the gift hamper our team won. There were loads of goodies including lots of chocolates. Can't wait for next week!

Bobby Darling-Anupam Shyam on Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla
Next week on Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla on Star Plus will see special performances by Bobby Darling and Anupam Shyam who is currently doing Pratigya.
A source reveals, "Bobby Darling has always shown interest in participating in Comedy Ka Maha Muqabla.
But since the teams were already in place all that the channel could do
was include him in one of the episodes. Bobby and Anupam were the
celebrity participants this week and they performed with the other
contestants."
As for this week's episode the theme is costume drama and power play. Raveena Tandon
performed as Duryodhan, Shakti Kapoor style. Sudesh Lahiri played
Dhritarashtra, Parul Yadav was the eye doctor and Vibha Bhagat,
Gandhari. Meanwhile, Supriya Pilgaonkar shocked everyone with her Veena
Mallik act. Shreyas Talpade's team was not far behind as he played
Yamraj while Raju Srivastava played his multi-faceted mummy. Roshni
Chopra bowled everyone with her performance as the wife of a drunkard,
hassled man."
Bobby and Anupam remained unavailable for comment.
