Chapter Two

Chapter Three
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Not a Knight in Shining Armor

Summary: An unconventional 'hero' saves the damsel in distress. And the real problems start. Vamp!Shravan/Sanchi.
Note: Are y'all surprised? So I was when I started writing out of the blue :P I hope this doesn't interfere with anything of yours, Maris 😳 Based off the recent art I've been making on an AU where Shravan is an obsessed vampire and Sanchi is his prey.
Warnings: Slight, not-too-graphic violence. And Vamp!Shravan.
Word Count: 921! That's almost 1000 XD

Comments would be appreciated! Especially if they're suggestions / constructive πŸ˜‰

TVP
Chapter One

The sounds of her screams are like sweet music to his ears. He breathes in the scent of her fear deeply, savoring the heady burst of adrenaline it provides.

He's almost there, where she is. The unknown girl under attack.

And he has no idea why he's doing any of this.

These are just thugs. Weak little flesh-and-blood humans. Cockroaches before him. He'll squash  them in barely five seconds and still have time to light up a cigarette before the last one stopped gurgling on his own blood.

She's the one who sees him first. A pretty little thing. Not the most beautiful woman he's ever seen, but then, he's seen too many. She cries out, her voice breaking under the strain of her panic, begs him to help her.

The pathetic creatures cornering her turn to him, sneering in the obvious delusion that the impending fight is in their favor, five against one.

When the first one moves to attack him, he proves them very wrong.

It comes clean off, and it's because he's already had a lot of practice dealing with insolent minions that he doesn't get any of the spraying blood on him. The girl doesn't scream this time, but to her credit she doesn't faint either, though the horror is clear on her sweet face. It's the disgusting excuses for men who shriek like little girls. He intentionally throws their friend's head right at their feet.

"So...who's next?"

No one. They run, scampering (like cockroaches), spreading all throughout the woods. It doesn't matter. He'll easily hunt them down. Later.

He turns to face the girl, and sees the things he's expecting. Fear, horror, distrust and the quick glances around that indicate she's looking to bolt. But there's one other thing that he sees, that catches him off guard and gradually pleases him.

It's curiosity.

"You know..." he begins slowly, his tone pleasant and his demeanor friendly, "I just saved your life. A 'thank you' wouldn't be too much to ask for, would it?"

She's startled by his voice, and by his question, he can see in the way she jerks and takes a step back, flattening herself against the tree. The splinters must scratch her skin now.

"I...Tha-thank you..." She speaks, hesitant and uncertain, looking at him with - beautiful - dark eyes that reflect both true relief and suspicion.

He smirks at her, looking very carefully now that he's got a chance. She's wearing a blue saree - a rarity for young women her age nowadays - and matching bangles. She's not married, or she's a modern sort who doesn't wear all the adornments of one. Her hair is black, long and curly, it cascades down her shoulders like silk. Her lips are startlingly red.

She looks away from his intense gaze, visibly uncomfortable with his attention. He wonders if the redness of own his eyes shows.

"I'm not usually a Knight-in-shining armor type." He declares suddenly, making her look at him again, "I don't rush to save people in trouble, I'll admit. But...today, when I heard you screaming, I felt that I had to help you." He smiles at her, opening his mouth just slightly so only the barest hint of his fangs show. In the dark, it's probably nearly invisible, but she tenses. "Isn't that weird?"

"I...I don't know."

"Ah." He clasps his hands behind back and begins to casually glide towards her. She hears his footsteps and shrinks further back. "I guess...my chivalry is just reserved for you?"

She swallows hard, and he can see sweat forming on her forehead. "My family is p-probably worried right now."

"Right, right." He nods, "They probably are. What were they letting you do out here alone, anyway?"

"I was...I was just coming from a function."

"So, you decided to take a shortcut through the woods?" He smiles, his eyes flashing when she bites down on her lip.

"No...my car broke down on the road. And those...those men found me there and chased me all the way...here."

"Oh, you poor thing."

"I want to go home." Her teeth are grinding together, and she's probably launching right into another panic attack. He knows he's way inside her personal space now, because every one of her words warms his face with her breath.

"As you should. Allow me to escort you back?"

"No! I can make it back on my own."

"Very well. May I know your name before you leave me?"

She stares at him, thoroughly unpleased and beyond frightened. "We will never meet again. I don't see the point."

He holds back his laughter, instead smoothly retorting, "How do you know for sure? Fate works in unpredictable ways."

She remains silent, now beginning to tremble. It's clear to him that she won't say her name - at least, not now.

"Fine, then." He sighs, stepping back, "I'll give you a pass today. But if...we ever meet again, I expect to learn your name immediately."

She doesn't look at him again, her gaze towards the winding path that leads to the main road - and true safety. "Okay."

"Good, then." He hums, offering a grin she doesn't see, "I bid you farewell."

The girl doesn't reply to his gentlemanly goodbye - instead she begins to walk, a little faster than normal, down the path and away from him.

He stands there, watches her until she disappears around the corner, silently vowing to make their second meeting an undeniable reality.

UPDATE
Note:
A sort of 'mini-chapter' to precede 'Little Girl Lost', the chapter focusing primarily on Sanchi.

Chapter Two: Secret

It is three hours and four minutes before she gets home again. The first thing she does is hug her Mami and Shreya, then she walks into her room, locks the door, strips off her dirtied clothing and slips into the shower.

The water is scalding, and yet she doesn't turn it down. She feels like something needs to be burned off her at this instant. Like something has left its mark on her, and she can't just wash it away.

His eyes, practically glowing in the dark, looking her up and down, appraising her. The slightest curl of his lips giving away much more than she needs to know.

No amount of scrubbing will take away that feeling. He's a monster. No normal man can do what he did, and so easily.

She's heard of things like him, but she's never believed them. No matter how many news articles Nani throws her way, or how much she rants about things she's seen in her long gone youth, it just never mattered because it wasn't logical for them to exist.

They prowled the streets in the night, looking for prey stupid, wayward or unfortunate enough to still be out. They'd grab you, drag you into dark alleys and you'd never go home alive.

So why did she? Why had he let her go? Why hadn't he killed her?

Why had he saved her in the first place?

Her hand aches. She's been gripping the shower knob too hard. The water has turned lukewarm.

She realizes she's been inside for an hour. It's time to get out, before someone comes calling.

She can't let anyone know what happened tonight.
