Viren was livid, he couldn't believe she'd been about to get out of the moving car a second ago, his heart had leapt into his mouth at the thought and he'd slammed the brakes. Nivi was stunned and relieved: Viren? What was he doing here driving the car? Had he seen them at the market and got the driver to leave? Suddenly she realised she'd been so wrapped up in her thoughts she hadn't even seen the driver since she'd got into the car... All these thoughts flashed through her mind and her relief quickly turned to anger. She ignored his question and said 'Viren TUM? Tum yaha kya kar rahe ho?! Aur tum kabse yeh gadi chala rahe ho?' Viren still looked angry, HE was angry? Nivi thought, he had some nerve, she'd just been trying to escape from the car. Viren ran his fingers through his hair and took a deep breath to calm himself and said 'haan main! Main kaam kar raha hoon Nivedita, aur mujhe pata tha ke tum mujhe dekh ke gadi main nahi beto ghi is liye maine kuch nahi kaha.' Nivi was still angry too and although she felt a sudden urge to ask him all about his job she said 'teek socha tumne Viren, mujhe ghar le chalo abhi isi waqt, yahaan kyu le kar aaye?'
Viren was prepared, he'd known she'd say that. 'Main ghar jaa raha tha Nivedita, lekin tum itni pareshaan lag rahi thi is liye maine socha tumhe yahaan le aao, tumhe acha lage ga' Nivi looked around and he could tell when she realised exactly where they were because she looked even more upset, why would he think this place would make her happy?! Before he could finish what he was saying she cut in, in a hurt and angry tone, 'tumhe meri fikar karne ki ab koi haq nahi hai Viren, aur vaise bhi, main pareshaan hoon ya nahi, tumhe is se kya farak padta hai? Hum alag ho chuke hai!' Viren looked at her sadly, her each word hurting him like a sharp knife and said quietly, 'tum sahi thi Nivedita, mujhe bohth farak padta hai...aur tum apne aap se kaho ya na kaho, tumhe bhi farak padta hai' He said her own words back to her and watched as her eyes widened and her face fell even more and she looked down. He'd turned around fully in his seat so there faces were only inches apart and when she looked up again, he felt his heart speed up and the car suddenly felt tiny. Nivi seemed to feel this too and after a few long seconds she looked away and said 'main ghar pedhal chali jaaoongi!' and got out of the car quickly.
Viren rushed out and opened the door for her but stood in her way as she tried to leave. 'Please Nivedita, bas todi dher ki toh baat hai, mera yakeen karo, tumhe acha lage ga, phir main tumhe ghar chod doonga.' He thought quickly and said, 'aur agar maine tumhe ghar nahi choda toh mujhe paise bhi nahi milenge...' He tried to look like the money mattered to him but he didn't care really; he just knew she wouldn't want him to lose out. He watched as she struggled with herself over it and felt bad but he couldn't let her go and he was so relieved and happy when she unwillingly said 'teek hai Viren, lekin paanch minute' She looked at the park entrance they were in front of and said quietly and painfully, 'lekin main waha phir nahi jaana chahti...' Viren understood what she meant; he felt his heart also twist at the memory and said gently 'hum waha nahi ja rahe Nivedita, chalo mere saath'. He turned and went through the gates of what he'd always thought of as his own private little park and heard her following. He slowed down as they walked down the steps, past where they had stood that night and he had said so many hurtful things to her. He watched her look to where he had stood while she'd begged him to come home and winced at the look on her face. He hurried up and she looked away and followed him with her head down till they'd turned and had reached where he was taking her, out of sight of the entrance.
Nivi was regretting her decision to come here with Viren, especially as they walked by where they had stood and she had pleaded with him to come home that night when all her dreams and hopes had shattered in an instant. She pushed the memories away and wondered if she should just turn back and go; then she remembered Viren saying he wouldn't get paid and she couldn't do that to him when he had so little...and he'd looked at her so pleadingly that she didn't think she could have said no even if she'd tried. She watched him as he walked in front of her. He was wearing a black shirt with a while tee underneath and black jeans and looking smarter than normal. She thought back on some of his actions these past few days and found herself wondering if maybe he really had changed but then realised how dangerous it was to think like that; all it would bring her was more pain. She sighed and went forward to tell Viren that she didn't want to see anything and could they just go but then they turned and all of a sudden she was in the most beautiful little garden that she lost all other thoughts and just stared.
They were in a little area of the park that was hedged in with bushes and there were flowers of different colours everywhere! There was an old fashioned stone bench in the middle and the whole thing looked beautiful with the sun hitting it just right. It was so quiet and peaceful with only the sound of birds; Nivi smiled unconsciously and went forward to touch one of the yellow flowers, for once forgetting Viren and feeling all her worries slip away for the moment.
Viren watched as Nivi took in the garden feeling his heart sing at the expression of wonder on her face. He'd known she'd love it and was glad because it was such a special place to him, even when the flowers weren't in bloom it was so peaceful here. He was happy he could share it with her but also felt a little sad that it wasn't in better circumstances. As he watched, Nivi smiled a beautiful smile and went to touch a yellow flower which was the same shade as her saree. He wished he could freeze that moment because there was no worry or sadness on her face and that was what he'd wanted to see all along. Afraid to speak and ruin the moment, he went and sat on the bench quietly, picking a yellow flower as he went. He sat and watched his smiling chand who looked as radiant as the sun right now and smiled himself in response.
