I understand that there has been some delay in addressing some issues. Some patience and understanding would be appreciated. As this topic has been opened out here let me make some things clear.
It was due to this extremely volatile nature of this forum that the forum administration had fairly and reasonably decided to close this section. The show is over and there is nothing left to discuss. Celebrities can be discussed in fan clubs, ATs/pairings/groups etc can be discussed in chat clubs, FFs can be posted in Fan fictions. Almost all the discussion material currently in this section could have been easily carried out in other sections. Hence the decision to close the forum had been made so that the discussions would not be concentrated in one place, but spread out over sections, be reasonably and efficiently managed in a timely manner. Issues related to this section are the most time consuming and laborious.
However, because some members were unable to let go and adapt to change we were had to continue keeping this section open even though it was not the most feasible logistical alternative.
This is midweek, most of us work or have school. We have other sections to moderate, and yes we also sometimes have other interesting things on IF we would rather do than babysit. So considering that we have other priorities and have to continue supporting this section members can be reasonably expected to give us some time. Its been just over 72 hours, not as if its been several days without addressing issues.
Secondly, it is the fans and supporters of the celebrity who keep adding fuel to the fire. Most members do not post here anymore. However, by constantly referring to external sites, discussing other members and groups in this section; people are unnecessarily attracting attention to this section and then complaining about it.
Also one end of the bargain members promised in exchange for this section being open was that they would not reply, quote, argue or respond to detractors or COC violators in any way and just report the relevant posts. Members had promised that they would not let any situation escalate and avoid dragging any threads into arguments. I do not see anyone holding to that end of the bargain. In fact more than half the escalations could have easily been avoided if members did not argue back with detractors and trolls. If you yourself choose to argue with trolls and detractors instead of ignoring, of course there will be issues.
And finally before we get down to actually addressing the issues we have to sift through dozens of inarticulate cryptic PMs that say bashing do something without giving a clear explanation on what the issue is and why it must be immediately addressed. Not to mention the number of frivolous reports and multiple reports of the same post to be cleared.
We want to ensure that the forum is clean, within rules and efficiently running, and we do try our best. But that cannot happen unless members themselves make a commitment to be mature, reasonable, sensible and patient. No one can expect even authorities to maintain order unless the people themselves are reasonable.
