Suspense thrillers is the most hot 'n' happening topic in Bollywood.So many thrillers have been stylishly made in Bollywood.''Sssshhh'' is a slasher movie,which is also a thriller.Have you seen ''Scream'' or for comedy even ''Scary Movie''?Then why see ''Sssshhh''.The film has been given lots of hype,and everyone is curious to know about the movie!
THE FILM:
Cinevistaas Ltd.''Sssshhh'',directed by Pavan Kaul,stars Dino Morea,Karan Nath,introduces Kajol's younger sister Tanisha,with Gaurav Kapoor,Kushal Punjabi,Suvarna Jha and Teena Chowdhary.The title of the movie (Sssshhh),itself is very different,unusual and interesting.People will be thinking that in which genre will the film fall?Is it a horror movie or a murder mystery?So,there is lots of curiosity for the movie.
THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:
1.Rocky(Dino Morea):Rocky is a carefree chap who studies in a college.He loves his childhood friend Mahek,and doesnt' like the interference of Sooraj in his love story with Mahek.He doesn't take things so seriously,whether his
teacher dies or whether a newcomer in the college goes to a jail.Actually,these things make him laugh.Rocky also loves to mess up with the police inspector and annoy him.Dino Morea has improved as an actor.His character of Rocky looks like that of his character in ''Pyaar Main Kabhi Kabhi'',but this is for sure,that he can play the role of a college going buy,much better,now.
2.Sooraj(Karan Nath):Sooraj is a newcomer in the college,who is very shy,honest and an introvert.He is in love with Mahek and wants to marry her(So common).Karan Nath is the best performer in the whole movie.He surprises the viewers,through his performance and has improved much alot over his previous performances.
3.Mahek(Tanisha):Mahek,is a friendly girl,college going girl.She is always frightened because someone is always tracking her,at her every step.Tanisha resembles Kajol,but Kajol is much better than her in her looks,and also a better performer.Tanisha looks fat at places and her dialogue delivery is not so strong.Though,I must admit,that at only some places,her voice seemed like Kajol's voice,as if Kajol has dubbed her voice,but at most of the places,whenever she opens her mouth,she irritates you.Her face expressions are nice and she isn't that bad,but surely she needs lots of improvement.
4.THE OTHER FRIENDS,Rajat,Gehna,Riya and Nikhil(Gaurav Kapoor,Suvarna Jha,Kushal Punjabi and Teena Chowdhary):Rajat,is Rocky's best friend,who is always chatting with him and loves to make fun of Hindi movies.Gehna,is the spoilt brat of the group,who loves Rocky and wants Rocky to pay attention to her.Riya and Nikhil are two lovebirds,who keep on roaming on a motorcycle.Nikhil dreams of marrying Riya,where as Riya dreams of sitting with Nikhil in a car,than a motor cycle.Gaurav Kapoor,is the best performer amongst the friends.I loved his dialogue which he says to Rocky,which is ''Sooraj+Mahek-Rocky=Problem''.He really makes you laugh.Suvarna Jha has one scene which gives her a chance to perform,and she does it very well.Kushal Punjabi does a fine job and Teena Chowdhary looks cute in a cute role.
Shivaji Satam,is okay.Aly Khan is totally wasted and so has been Simone Singh as mahek's sister.
THE STORY:
Malini,is playing squash,one evening.Suddenly,she hears someone telling her about her death.She thinks that her friend is joking but she finds her friend dead.She starts running,but the killer kills her.Mahek is very upset,because Malini was her sister.After some days,she starts receiving calls from the killer,who keeps on threatening her.All the time she is frightened and one day,when she is sitting with her friend in a car,the killer is standing infront.The car gets stuck in a river,and the killer attacks on Mahek.At just the right time,Sooraj helps her and the police inspector is also there.The police shoots the killer and everyone is relieved that the killer has died.To make Mehak forget the terrible incident,her firends,Rocky,Sooraj,Riya,Nikhil,Rajat and Gehna decide to take her to Thailand,Bangkok,with them.Mahek's mother gives them the permission to go,and off they go to Thailand.After staying one night in Bangkok,they all decide to stay in an island for two days,but soon the viewers find out,that the killer is alive and is ready to kill all the friends.
THE UPS:
The film has been given amazing special effects,which make the film look very stylish,attractive nad more watchable.Hiroo Keswani's cinematography is also wonderful.He has captured the scenery of island's so beautifully and the movements of the camera,makes the film look more exciting.Background score,is very impactful.At every scene,the music behind suits so much with that particular scene,that it will make you glued to the screen.Anu Malik's music is also fair.Songs like ''Ishq Da Mara Hai'' and ''Sapne'' are enjoyable and entertaining.
THE DOWNS:
Pavan Kaul's direction is poor,because nothing supported him much,like the screenplay by Arshad Syed,which is the weakest link.The viewer will get confused and will be guessing how it happened so?Like,why the killer wants to kill all the friends,or even an innocent lady teacher.The viewer will also not understand,why the killer doesn't kill Mahek directly,like when Mahek was alone in the bathroom,why the killer didn't killed her and killed the teacher instead?There are also no chills and thrills and the climax is pale.The killer is wearing a mask,which seems like,that of a joker or a clown.It seems as if the killer is there to entertain kids and not thrilling the audiences.The love triangle is also one another problem with the film,which interferes in the going ons of the movie.So,these things prove that the editing is loose.
