Today India celebrates its 62nd republic day .
So we at India-forums salute our great nation as world's largest democracy and secular nation.
Lets start Republic day celebrations with a visual tribute to our great nation with a slide show and voice of Rabinder Nath Tagore reciting the National Anthem.
(Rabinder Nath Tagore wrote our National Anthem ,this recitation was done first time in 1911 in Calcutta)
On this day 1950 India's constitution came in force and India was declared as a republic with its own head of state and own constitution.
Also on this day 26 January 1930 Tiranga(Indian Flag ) was first unfurled by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in Lahore and call for complete independence from British govt was made.
In 1965 on this day Hindi was declared as National Language of India.
to mark the 62nd republic day celebrations are being held as a grand parade in the capital, New Delhi, from Raisina Hill near the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President's House), along the Rajpath, past India Gate and on to the historic Red Fort.
Awards and medals of bravery are given by the President to the people from the armed forces for their exceptional courage in the field and also to those civilians who have distinguished themselves by their different acts in different situations.
The fly past marks the conclusion of the parade, when fighter planes of the IAF roar past the dais, symbolically saluting the President.
Down the Memory Lane
26 January 1950
India's first president took oath to office .
Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of Independent India, in his special message to his countrymen, on the birth of the Indian Republic, said:
"We must re-dedicate ourselves on this day to the peaceful but sure realization of the dream that had inspired the Father of our Nation and the other captains and soldiers of our freedom struggle, the dream of establishing a classless, co-operative, free and happy society in 'his country'. We must remember that this is more a day of dedications than of rejoicing - dedication to the glorious task of making the peasants and workers the toilers and the thinkers fully free, happy and cultured."
Proud to be Indian

The abacus rests on a lotus in full bloom, exemplifying the fountainhead of life and creative inspiration.
