TOP Newcomers of Television 2010

As we head towards the end of 2010 we take a look at some newcomers who made a mark on Indian TV. Take a look at those new faces whose charmed their way into the hearts of the viewers with their acting talent.

Anupriya Kapoor: The pretty and talented Anupriya Kapoor made her debut with Miley Jab Hum Tum on STAR One where she played Samrat?s (Mohit Sehgal) sister. She went on to star in Seven on Sony after which she bagged the lead role of Taani in Tere Liye on STAR Plus. Currently Anurag (harshad Chopra) and Taani are one of the most popular and loved jodis on television. She recenty bagged the best debut female award at the Telly awards.

Vivian D?sena: The handsome Vivian D?sena who has been part of various ad campaigns stars as Abhay in Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani on STAR One. Vivian gained praise for his performance as the supernatural character who is paired opposite Piya (Sukirti Kandpal). Vivian is now as poplar for his screen presence as he is for his looks.

Arhaan Behl: Arhaan is the charming spoilt brat Krishna in Maan Kee Awaaz Pratigya on STAR Plus. Arhaan has gained many fans for his unique style of wooing Pratigya (Pooja Gor) and also for the way he interacts with other characters in the show. Unlike most leading men he is not very proper in his behavior and neither very stylish and that is what makes his character Krishna lovable.

Jia Manek: The meek and docile bahu Gopi aka Jia Manek of Saath Nibhaana Saathiya on STAR Plus charmed her way into the hearts of the audience. Saath Nibhaana Saathiya is currently leading in the TRP race and the protagonist Gopi has a huge role in making the show so popular. Jia?s innocent looks and attempts to win over her husband Aham who hates her are a hit with the audience.

Pratyusha Bannerjee: At first the audience expressed doubt about whether Pratyusha Bannerjee who plays the grownup Anandi in Balika Vadhu on Colors will be able to play the role as well as child star Avika Gor. Pratyusha proved her critics wrong with her acting skills and the show is still as popular as it used to be before the leap. Pratyusha and co-star Shashank Vyas (Jagya) are now very popular with the viewers.

Yashashri Masurkar: The lovable small town girl Khanak aka Yashasri Masurkar has wooed the audience with her simplicity and innocence. Most viewers can identify with Khanak because she is simple in her behavior and the way she presents herself. Yasashri?s portrayal of Khanak deserves a mention because she plays the character perfectly.

Smriti Kalra: Smriti is one of the most unconventional leading ladies that Indian television has seen. Neither is she exceptionally good looking nor does she have a perfect figure. Smriti won over the audience with her portrayal of Simi in 12/24 Karol Bagh on Zee Tv who is unmarried at 30 and also overweight. The audience empathized with Simi as Smriti proved that one does not need perfect looks to be a popular TV star.
