"Barfee" the yet to be unleashed blockbuster Hindi movie of 2011
After a not so successful venture in Kites (2010), ace director Anurag Basu is all set to capture the box office in 2011 with his much talked about film Barfee. The film has been already gathering much news around the cast of the second lead actress in the film. The much awaited confirmation was made by Anurag Basu himself in November 2010 when he announced about the casting of Telugu star Ileana D'Cruz as the second lead in Barfee.
According to reports, Barfee is a UTV Movies presentation and is a hindi romantic murder mystery starring Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz in the lead. The film that was renamed after its previous suggested titles of Silence and Khamoshi, revolves around the two lead characters played by Ranbir and Priyanka. Ranbir plays the role of a deaf and dumb person while Priyanka would be seen in another challenging role of a mentally challenged girl. Ileana would be seen as the narrator of the story.
After South Indian actress Asin walked out of the project because of price issues and Deepika rejected because of the obvious reasons, Anurag Basu was seen eyeing fresh talent. On seeing Ileana's photographs, both Basu and Ranbir were impressed by the kind of grace and poise that the young 23 year old actress possessed. After initial talks, she was immediately signed in for the project.
Ileana started her career with Telegu films in 2006. Her debut in Telegu blockbuster, Devadasu shot her to limelight. After her five year long stint in Tollywood as the reigning queen, she is now ready to loom big in Bollywood and Kollywood as well. According to sources, the still single hottie has even been roped in for the Shankar directed Telegu remake of Three Idiots. Ileana would surely need to work hard on her Hindi diction for her Bollywood debut! Says a source, "Since Ranbir plays mute and Priyanka plays a woman often lapsing into incoherence, it is very important that Ileana speaks clear and correct Hindi. That was the prerequisite for her signing Barfee."
Besides Ileana, Ranbir and Priyanka have also been in recent news for this film. Ranbir has been asked to gain weight for portraying his character in Barfee by director Anurag Basu. His character would have glimpses of two great comedy icons--- Charlie Chaplin and Mr Beans. Priyanka, on the other hand, has been seen attending a mental asylum to understand and enact her role in the film to perfection.
Barfee is surely all set to rock the box offices in 2011 with its immensely talented cast and crew. Here's hoping that the film proves to be one of the best flicks of Bollywood this season!
