IndiaGlitz  [Friday, January 14, 2011]

After the immensely interesting 'Traffic', it is now the turn of 'The Metro'. The new movie from the director Bibin Prabhakar who hadn't hit big time with his previous endeavours like 'Khakee' and 'One Way ticket', features another group of interconnecting stories to end up as an intriguing thriller. Scripted by production designer Vyasan Edavanakkad, the movie will have three separate incidents that take place in Cochin.

One involves the murder of an young politician Jaimy Padamadan during the Lok Sabha election time. The case is now investigated by the circle inspector Jacob Alexander, who is after the local don Shaji Paruthikkadan. Shaji is a fiery fellow who is escaping scot-free due to high level political pressures.

The second story follows an IT professional Anupama played by Bhavana, who is being followed by a gang of hooligans due to mysterious reasons. Into these events at Cochin arrive five friends travelling from Thiruvilyamala to Pala. Led by Harikrishnan, who is on leave from his job at gulf, these five men tourists gang need to deliver a package to a person at Pala. However something happens amidst their journey and they are forced to take refuge at the darkness of the Cochin city.

'The Metro' has an interesting tag line - It could happen to you! Mostly shot at Kochi, the movie's major parts are night shots. In fact, the crew has shot for around 30 days continuously canning the night shots. Nivin polly of 'Malarvady Arts Club' fame plays Harikrishnan, while Bhagath, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Arun and Beyonne plays the rest of the gang. Bhavana plays Anupama, while Tamil Supreme star Sarath Kumar comes up as an independent hero for the first time in Malayalam, playing the North CI Jacob Alexander.

'The Metro' also stars Suresh Krishna, Nishanth Sagar, G K Pillai, Jagathy Sreekumar, Shammi Thilakan, Sadiq, Anil Murali along with a host of other actors.

Shan Rehman sets the music, while Rajeev Aalunkal has penned the lyrics. Sri Sreeram is in charge of the cinematography of 'The Metro'. Produced by actor Dileep under the banner of Grand Productions, the film will get to theatres this month.
