The First Move

Scene 1

'aayiye Hemaji'

Shamita, Neel, Hansa,  Rithul and Hema made their way to the Sitting room after their lunch.

Hema looked at the top section wondering where Sana was working.

'Aunty agar aap uper chalna chahthi hain tho main le ker jatha hun' offered Rithul

'nahi its ok. Main use disturb nahi kerna chahthi hun' said Hema

 

'Hema ji waqay main , Sana nay hum sab ka dil jeet liya ha. Usnay ithna apna pan dikhaya hai ki hum tho bohot khushkismat hai. ' added Shamita.

 

'Bilkul ' agreed Neel

 

Rithul looked as if he had gained the entire world.

'Thank you ma !' he exclaimed happily

 

'Thum kiyun kush ho rahe ho?' asked Neel.

Rithul realized that in his excitement he had forgotten that he hadn't told them about his intentions.

 

'v..voh ..aam .. k. main jatha hun uper. Mujhe.. sana ki Zaroorat hogi…' stammered Rithul as he hastily got up to leave

 

'Kya? Kya keh rahe ho thum?' asked Hansa trying to stifle a laugh

 

'main abhi ayaa' said Rithul as he scrammed towards the stairs

 

Hansa looked at SHamita and Neel, and smiled. She then gave them an assuring nod and turned towards Hema , who had been looking at Rithul running upstairs, a small smile surfaced on her face.

 

'Hema ji aap tho samaj gayi hongi' asked Hansa now turning completely towards her

 

Hema nodded and looked down at the floor

 

'Tho , Neel.. thum bolo' said Hansa

 

'ji, Hema ji, hum chahthay hain ki Sana humaray ghar ki bahu banay' said Neel

Hema looked up. She had a smile on her face yet her eyes were filled with worry.

 

'Ji bilkul. Mujhe tho Sana pehlay din hi bha gayi thi. Meray Rithul ke liye ussey achi larki ho hi nahi sakthi' added shamita

 

'Lekin' voiced Hema with a worrisome tone

 

She did not know how to react. So much had happened in the past week. Divorce, travel. She knew that Sana was tough but she did worry. Will Sana have to face the same fate as hers? Will she ever find the love and affection she deserved and had been deprived of for years?

 

Questions and doubts rose within her like tidal waves on the ocean.

 

'Aapko abhi kuch bhi kehnay ki zaroorat nahi hai. HUmnay bas apni ek chah rakhi hai aapkay saamnay. Aap sana sey baat kijiyega aur phir vichar kerkay humain bata dijiyega' said Hansa

 

Hema just nodded. Nothing she would say could come close to what she was feeling. She had to talk to her daughter and see how she feels about everything that had happened.

Scene 2

'No' answered Sana
'No way. I still can't believe that they said this'


'Whats so not to believe!? Didn't I tell you that he likes you?' said Sapna who was sitting besides Sana with Hema on her bed.


'Shut up sapna'


'Sana, thumhay koi aur pasand hai?' asked Hema


'Mom aap aise kaise keh sakthi hain?
Sana got up frustrated and turned around.


Hema sighed as she looked at her daughter. She knew this was coming.


'Sana, thum shadi karogi. Aur mera ye akhiri faisala hai'

'Agar thum kisi aur ko pasand kerhti hothi, jissey thum shadi kerna chahthi ho, tho mujhe koi ayetraz nahi hotha.

Lekin ye baat nahi hai. Thum , shadi hi nahi kerna chahthi. Aur main ye bilkul honay nahi dungi.' Said Hema sternly


'Mom, aap mujhe force nahi ker sakthi. Maine shadi nahi kerni aur bas baat khatm'


'Teekh hai. this your final decision? asked Hema


'Han'


'Ok , tho theek hai. Main kal wapis ja rahi hun. yahan reh ker koi faida nahi hai' said Hema getting up to leave the room


'Mom please aap emotional blackmail kiyun ker rahi hain?'asked Sana


'Main koi emotional blackmail nahi ker rahihun. Agar thum shadi nahi kerna chahthi ho tho teek hai. Lekin main thumhay is tarah dekh nahi sakthi. Mujhsey ye sab dekha nahi jayega' Said Hema


'I am fine mom. Mian kush hun'


'Lekin main nahi hun. Main chahthi hun thumhara ghar bas jaye. Thum kush raho. Thumhari bhi apni family ho'


'Jis tarah humari thi?!' erupted Sana


'Aap shayad bhul gayi hain mom, lekin main nahi. Mujhe har voh din yaad hai jab aapkay saath dad bura kerthay thay. Main kaise kisi aur aadmi ko meray saath ye sab kernay ki chut de sakthi hun? she asked


'Jo meray saath hua hai , zaroori nahi hai ki thumharay saath bhi ho' said Hema


'Aapko koi guarantee hai? ki ye larka papa jaise nahi hoga?' asked Sana


'Guarantee tho kisi bhi cheez ki nahi hai, lekin han, ithna zaroor keh sakthi hun ki ye thumharay papa ki tarah nahi hai. Aur na hi iskay ghar walay. Kya ye thum nahi janthi?' asked Hema


Sana thought about Hansa. How she had kindly invited her to join her for lunch. She thought about her conversation with idha and dolly. Her mind flashed pictures of the entire family and, Rithul.


'Bolo Sana, chup kiyun ho? Kya ye log waise hain? Khudgarz, sharabi, dhokha denay walay, disrespectful, arrogant? aise hain?


'thumhari khamoshi isi baat ki gawah hai ki, jo main sochthi hun unkay baray main vohi thum bhi sochthi ho.' Said Hema


'Aur Rithul' asked Sana


'Uski kya guarantee hai? Kal voh bhi aise ho gaya tho?


'Tho larna seekho. Zindagi sey har ker nahi, uskay saath kadam mila ker jeena seekho' Said Hema raising her eyebrows, confidence bursting out of her face.


'Main janthi hun ki voh aisa nahi hai. Aur main ye bhi janthi hun, ki thum is baat ko achi tarah samajthi ho' Said Hema


'Ithni bhi choti nahi ho thum ki heeray aur kaanch main faraq nahi jaano. Ithna tho zindagi nay sikha hi diya hai na thumhay?' she asked


Sana stood quiet. She did not reply to her mother's questions. She knew at heart that her mother was right but her mind did not let her accept it.


'Nahi.. main ye nahi ker sakthi' said Sana


'Teekh hai. Main bhi yahan nahi reh sakthi. THum apni zindagi jiyo, apnay hisaab sey aur main apni' said Hema and she walked towards the door.


'Kya larki shadi kiye bina nahi reh sakthi' shouted Sana
'Kya ye zaroori hai ki voh, shadi kay bandan main hi bandhay? bus yahi hai zindagi?' she asked


Hema looked back


'Don't give me that! Agar zindagi sey larna nahi chathi. Apnay dar ka samnah nahi kerna chahthi tho teek hai , voh thumhari merzi hai. Ki thum kamzor rehna chahthi ho. Us dar kay saath, us nafrat kay saath jeena chahthi ho, jiskay saath main jeethi aayi hun. Tho teek hai. Raho.


Lekin jo meri beti hai, use maine larna sikhaya hai. Jis tarah main larthi aayin hun.

Faraq bus ithna hai ki main ek bahri janwar sey larthi aayi hun , aur thum apnay andhar ki nafrat sey.

Maine akhir fateh paa li , lekin thum aaj tak jeethi nahi. Aur aaj thumharay is faislay sey mujhe yaqeen ho gaya hai ki thumhara dar, aur thumhari nafrat nay thumer fateh pa li' said Hema and she walked out

Sana looked flabbergasted.

wow so finally hema is trying to convince sana for the shaadi.....great job......suchitra ji its amazing.......keep rocking....cant wait to see what happens next
