a question to all boys & girls here..mostly we see girls who are graduated but their in-laws never allow them to do a job.i watched life partner an indian movie,in that prachi desai she is a perfect house wife but wen she tries to speak in his own bussiness.their in-laws never allow her to do that.. even his husband is against too... & yes this is what happening in our countries.. like u see in pakistan, india or in bangladesh there are so many countries in which man never allow their wife to do a job, & they prefer housewife mostly.. not all man but about 50% i can say..another example Benazir bhooto she was a strong politician a bold lady BUt whenever she tried to come she was always faced so many problems,..but in last what happened to her she was assisanated.. why? because she was a lady/?? & mostly man thinks a lady can't handle this situation..blah blah.. because of such situations like parents don't allow their daughters to g to coleege even.. beaxuse of man.. Na aana is des lado airing on colors same problem same situation ..so how can we prevent this injustice? there are so many graduated girls like doctors they are housewives they spent thier whole life as a housewive,, then why those girls are seeking knowledge? ghar beth jao na phir.. so share your feelings.. & i hope nobody will against it!Big smile

Zarmina ji yes it is sad. Women have traditionally been the home maker and men the bread winner. I think with modernization and improvements women will have a greater role.
Most women after working for a while also want to spend more time with the kids too and so they may want an easier job later on.
It is best to balance home and work I think.
But they should have a personal choice.

Maybe they are afraid to lose their wife.LOL
Perception has to change they are partners n not the employee or slave or property.
but following too much western culture is also not ideal.
Best if there is mutual understanding n respect.
Frankly housework is boring and they should get a maid.

Well, I think India is changing quite a lot. (Can't comment for other countries because I don't keep up with them.) People are becoming more openminded and accepting of the fact that women can hold careers and run a household as well. Of course, this is more common in the bigger cities, but over time, it will be seen everywhere.

Personally, I think if you are a woman who is educated, then you need to be wise with who you choose to marry. Do not marry into a family that is extremely conservative. Even if the girl is going through an arranged marriage, I'm sure she will be able to have some say. (Especially since her family is more liberal in thinking by making sure she is educated and can support herself.)

The fact that many families prefer housewives over "careerwives" is because the family thinks that the girl will not be a good wife and take care of her husband and family. She will just be job oriented. This is not true, and women must take a stand (respectfully) against it because oppression of women like this is not right.

Having said all this, I believe after marriage a woman's first duty is her husband and in laws. If she cannot maintain marriage and work, she need to stop working.

and what about the husband.....should his responsibility not be towards his wife and in-laws......shouldn't they share the same responsibility when it comes to making the marriage work....why does the women have to be the one to make all sacrifices unless it is out of her own free will.......if the husband and wife are equally qualified and holding similar jobs why should the wife be the one to stop working......why can't there be a middle ground.....

Yes, the husband does have his responsibilities too, and I agree he should help in household duties and support his wife. If it is hard to get a middle ground, then someone has to adjust in order for things to work.

I know what I said may have offended you, but that was really not my intention. Sorry for that. I was just stating my opinion of what I feel. Everyone is entitled to their own view. Smile
