Chak De Phatte:Zee TV Stars bring in Lohri- Gaurav

 

In Punjab, the breadbasket of India, wheat is the main winter crop, which is sown in October and harvested in March or April. In January, the fields come up with the promise of a golden harvest, and farmers celebrate Lohri during this rest period before the cutting and gathering of crops. As the celebrations ring out in the whole of Punjab; Zee TV stars recall their fondest memories of this festival in the years gone by.

Gud ki mithaii, makke di roti, sarson da saag and the compulsion within to enjoy the last few days of winter would make Lohri special every year. Kite flying is huge in Lucknow and there is no bigger thrill that see the opponent's kite being cut by yours. I grew up in Kanpur where both Makar Sankranti and Lohri are celebrated with equal enthusiasm.
