@shona: see this can also be just to make us viewers realise that for him all that matters is her..and even if the doc tells him she needs to understand why he did it..and for MAAN to have doubts about geet being not being able to stay with him..he said.."mujhe nahi pata ki woh mujhe apna sahara baayegi ya nahi.." or something on those lines..it makes sense..he knows he didnt have a choice but somehere deep within him he knows that the child matetrs to her..and she herself said it..in the room..so i dont see a reason for MU here..
